Talk about Serendipity.
I have had one of the weeks where everything has went totally right. Where I’m thinking maybe I should pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming. I don’t know if any of you have had a week like this, but if you haven’t, I sure hope you do sometime.
A week, where you feel like even if there is snow on the ground and it’s overcast; the sun is shining on you. I don’t really know if it was just one specific thing or the combination of several different events. Who knows, maybe it was just Valentine’s Day. Cupid might have got me good when I wasn’t looking.
I can’t say that I am huge Valentine’s day person, but I can say that I am all about love. Not necessarily being in love, but love in general. Having passion for something.
I have a love for all things vintage. I’m the girl at the flea market that is always digging for old photos, cards, or post cards. There is something amazing about looking at an old black and white photo or reading a note on the back of a postcard. It takes you to this place of wonder. I wonder what this picture was for, when it was taken, who these people are. I wonder who this letter was intended to reach, what was that person like, who wrote it or received it. It is really pretty phenomenal to ponder.
I have these vintage Valentines that I adore. They remind me so much of the Serendipity collection. I think that is why I love the line so much. Its muted reds, aquas, pinks, and greens. It is almost like the pieces were plucked from another era. It was love at first sight for me when I saw the line. I was fortunate enough to be one of the first to see it in its entirety, while I was steaming (on a side note, I also had a love affair with the steamer, seriously if you don’t have one, you should look into getting one, they are AMAZING…lol) the pieces for the photo shoot. I can honestly say that there is not one piece in this collection that I do not love. I’ve had several people ask me what my favorite piece is. How do you choose? It would be impossible for me to ever decide. I picture my little P in every piece and I am in love….

Two last things-
1- Since we are talking about love I wanted to take this opportunity to wish my mom a very Happy Birthday. She is one of the most amazing people and I am so fortunate to have her in my life. Happy Birthday Mom-I love you!
2- Leave me a comment about something you love or collect and I will show you some love in return. One random name will be picked on Monday for a Platinum piece.

I love old candy dishes.
I love quotes…just collecting fun sayings, verses or quotes that can make me laugh, brighten my day or motivate me! It’s my new pinterest addiction!
I collect quilts… we have a whole closet completely full… I mean you can barely get the door shut.. The thing I love most, it the fact that my 3 year old lives life to the fullest and wants to do everything her way… Thanks MJ
I collect money from all over…friends, or family bring it back from travels and I just think it’s just cool. One day I want to get a shadowbox coffee table and put it in there with a cool vintage map and doodads
Those are beautiful. The thing I collect may sound silly but I collect the key card they give you to your hotel room of every hotel we have ever stayed in. Most hotels put a pretty pic on the card, usually of the hotel. We have stayed in some really great places around the world and my hope is to someday make a piece of art displaying all the cards somehow. Each stay is such a great memory and I look at each card and remember something special about that trip.
I love my family!
I love fabric! And I guess I collect it too. Which makes no sense, because I can’t sew. But I have an Armoire that my husband refinished for me full of fabric! I buy it at flea markets, second hand stores, and new. When I see a fabric that I love, I buy a yard or two of it, take it home and put it in my Armoire. Sometimes I pull it out and organize it by color. Sometimes I put different pieces next each other and go “ooh, this would make a fantastic ellie dress!” or “I would love some ruffles out of this”. And then I dream of buying a sewing machine and learning to sew. But for now, I just collect the fabric.
ButTonS..I don’t know why but I love unique and colorful buttons..I put them in a jar and my kids love to play with them..they r just fun!
I LOVE seeing the sparkle the sun creates on water. (Preferably while I am sitting on a white beach:), but any body of water will do.) It’s magic and heaven to me.
I love and collect recipes. I’m always hunting for something new, healthy, and delicious to fill my family’s bellies. So much promise and anticipation with each new one to try!
I love my few AMAZING girlfriends because they are my sisters for life and I collect “Oak Trees” and “Bumble Bees.” Have a great weekend<3
I always tell my daughter when we go into an antique store, “You have to know what you’re looking for.” Then she recites back to me the things she knows I am looking for: milk glass, hobnail glass (she usually says “that glass with dots”), and old church books. Mostly though I love that I have an eight-year-old who loves to go antiquing with me.
I LOVE color! It makes my heart soar, warms my soul, and brightens my every day. I must have color around me, it’s too beautiful and a real gift from nature that I so adore. A “vanilla girl” I’m not!
I collect old buttons (one small reason I love Matilda Jane so much is the vintage looking buttons)… I have a giant jar at home that I have had since I was 10. I remember going to my great uncles funeral and in the process of my grandparents cleaning out his things, I saw the Jar! I was immediately captivated by all of the different colors, sizes, and shapes. i begged my grandmother and she gave me the jar. My great uncle volunteered as a janitor at a church for 40 years and always found the stray buttons when cleaning. He would pocket them, take them home, and put them in the jar. My kids play with them now… sorting them by shapes, colors, sizes.. just like I did when I was a kid. The stories those buttons could tell!!
Not to sound cliche. But, I love my girls. There was a time my husband and I thought we couldn’t have children, and we were extremely blessed.
Specifically, I love that God made the perfect spot just for me to kiss my oldest daughters nose. It is seriously like He took the mold of my lips and curved her nose to match it.
I feel like I need to put my family, and I do LOVE them. But I love, like am obsessed, with books. I read constantly. I am the nerd that falls asleep with my book and wake up when it hits me in the face. I LOVE BOOKS!
I love collecting charms for my charm bracelet–not just a certain brand or type, but the random silver charms you find in gift shops and vacation spots! I love having a bracelet full of memories!!!
Not sure if this counts as a collection, but I like to “collect” funny phrases on my computer. (pinterest has made this super easy). When I have a bad day or just need a pick me up, I read through them and laugh out loud! totally brightens my day.
one of my favorites : “She’s crazy. And just when you think you’ve reached the bottom of her craziness, there’s a crazy underground garage.”…this is so me!
I love my mom’s red sequence platforms from the 70’s! I love having a piece of her past. If only those shoes could talk!
I love love love my job!…..I am a pediatric ER nurse and I never dread going to work….I never know what the day will bring, well the night since I work night shift! I love the people I work with and I love our patients…we have some very sad days there but we are always able to bring a smile back to each others face!!
I LOVE vintage owls and have started a collection. Goodwill has been very good to me over the past few months. LOL!
Love those valentines! Pottery Barn Kids had vintage valentines plates this year – super adorable.
As for what I collect, a couple of years ago I stumbled across a clothbound Penguin classic at Anthropologie and I started collecting those because at the time, I was pregnant with my baby girl and I’m a voracious reader. They are beautiful and I thought it’d be a nice thing to collect for her that also meant something to me. Fast forward to last year, when I saw Puffin Classics that are clothbound, and I started collecting those for her and my son! I have already pre-ordered “A Little Princess” and “The Wizard of Oz” for when they come out in May. They are just beautiful little books, and the Puffin Classics are some of my childhood favorites!
We collect Piggy Banks.:) My daughter is obsessed with pigs so she has started collecting anything pig related. When we travel, we always pick up a piggy bank from a local souvenier shop with the city, state, or country that we are visiting. She is starting to build quite a collection! Have a great weekend!
xoxo
I have a beautiful collection of Thomas Blackshear “ebony visions” figurines. The detailed facial expressions show tons of character. The outfits he uses are timeless. My favorite is the Nurturer (it’s of a mother and daughter’s love) I
Happy {heart} day! So something we collect?? Well, I’m a closet Barbie collector. I started when I was 4, thanks to my Grandmother and since have kept my collection growing. I have over 100 Barbies, still in mint condition, hiding away in my basement :o)
Crazy? Yes. Just a bit <3
I collect teacups – I have a collection from my grandmother and I always find myself on the hunt for more to add to it! I also collect Precious Moments. I get them for every “important” life event. My husband actually proposed with a Precious Moment.
When i was little, my favorite uncle was a truck driver out of California. So the only time I got to see him was when he was passing through on his way to the east coast. When he would come through he would bring me a small brown paper bag full of small soaps and shampoos that he collected along the way. I never used them, i just saved them in a small box and added to them on each visit. Now that he is home and retired, i am going to have my daughter give them to him for Christmas so he can share (or make up) the story of where they came from!
I collect MJC!! Seriously!! It has become a hobby and a bit of an obsession…LOL!
I am in love with the quality of Matilda Jane and the life shelf of the clothes! My two yr old is now wearing her 12 mo old knot dress as a shirt and shares her dress with her one yr old sister. It makes me happy when I can get my money’s worth-and with MJ I am able to
I love pens and pencils! I love to collect all sorts of pencils and pens especially the kind that my kids would enjoy.
I love notecards/ paper and I really love funky pottery pieces that you can bring out when you entertain.
Somethings I love (besides the hubby and kiddos)…
#1..Nice warm pajamas straight out of the dryer
#2..When my youngest two (3&2 yrs) tuck me into bed with sweet kisses of goodnight.
#3..The embracing hug from my dh when I’ve had a rough day.
#4..Being invited to my daughters’ “beauty shop” make-over
I too, love black & white portraits. I have a hall in my home devoted to b&w’s, my kitchen is decorated with metal signs & old lanterns. I grew up with antique cars (1929!)and just love that era!
I LOVE to collect Care Bears
So cute.
Completely unoriginal and bound to be said time and time again…but I love family; that wonderful group of people who shape you into the person that you’ve become and love you no matter what. Love my hubby, kiddos, parents, brother, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, and those friends who feel like family. Doesn’t get any better!
I love anything little! Little babies, little kids, little phones, little purses, little candies, little vases with flowers, little hair clips etc. I love littles!:)
I collect and love OWLS! It has became an obsession of mine! They can be so cute and/or beautiful!
Happy Birthday to your Mom!
I think you and I are kindred spirits Carrie. I love all things vintage too! This love affair started when I was in elementary school and my mom would take me to Goodwill to dig through the cotume jewelry. After that I was hooked not only on vintage jewelry, but also vintage aprons, hankies, clothes and buttons. I loved going to estate sales, antique stores and flea markets. As a teenager, I wore vintage clothes to school most of the time because I liked the look of them better than current fashion (hey, it was the 80s, lol!). In college I began collecting vintage postcards, mainly for holidays, and my most prized pieces are the Halloween cards. I love anything vintage Halloween!! I think everyone else is catching on because I’ve been seeing a lot of reproductions in stores lately. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who loves these relics.
I love old black and white antique photos…..even if I don’t know who they are.
I have come to love peacocks! They are so intriguing and their colors are amazing!
I love old black and white antique photos….even if I don’t know who they are!
Speaking of vintage…I adore and love vintage tablewear…I have piles of vintage napkins and glass plates and cute cups and saucers…I really wish i actually used them more, but I am planning to use them all at my sister’s bridal shower! Love the post and love Serendpity! You guys rock!
I thought and thought about something that I LOVE……and I came up with this 1st if you have to think hard about something you must not love it,then I 2nd guessed myself……not to sure of myself…just a little,BUT always a but I do love giving a fabulous make over,I LOVE the way it makes someone feel special!
Odd as it may seem to some, I collect & love old glass…but not stemware and serving pieces or anything of the depression glass sort (my sister loves that type of thing!) – I love glass insulators! The power companies used them to insulate wiring on poles high above – and sometimes you can find wonderful gems in lt. blue or amber colored glass. I have a few that are even smoked b/c of sparked wires at one time. They just sit around the house, on the occassional bookshelf or table, making people (like my hubby and kiddos) wonder what on earth they are and why are they strangely industrial and beautiful at the same time! Love finding beauty in unexpected things!
I love mustard! Weird, right? Any time I see a new flavor I HAVE to have it. Pretty pathetic that I need a mustard budget. Current fav: Honeybaked Ham Company’s Hickory Smoked Honey Mustard.
I collect vintage cameras.
This year marks my 10th anniversary of marriage to the most amazing man I know, my husband Steve. I am so lucky to have him–he just “gets” me. And, not only has he brought me so much love and laughter, but together we have created two beautiful children. I feel truly blessed.
I love quilts, collecting them and making them. But my favorite thing is finding old vintage ones… The amount of work put into them and the stories behind them. I am such a geek.
I am a collector and lover of pitchers and tea kettles. I know, weird right?!? Not just any pitchers and tea kettles but unique vintage ones that look like they’ve been somewhere and overheard some AMAZING conversations! I don’t have a lot of them. I’m not a fan of clutter, but when I see one that I can’t live without I definitely pick it up and then hide it from my husband who i know is going to comment on how I’ll never use it and it’ll just take up space and collect dust
I am truly in love with my kids’ artwork! I keep every creation they have ever made (including the ones from when they were 1 and daycare teachers helped them glue cotton balls to a piece of paper!). There is something special about having evidence of their imaginations from that specific moment in time; I can remember so much about their personalities at that time just by looking at what they made. I love collecting their creations
I LOVE and COLLECT Vintage Pyrex…oh, my my-its a bad obsession. I can find a thrift store anywhere I go and get butterflies when I spot a piece. <3 <3
Love my family and coffee!
Can’t live with em’.
oops, i hope I didn’t jinx myself. *Can’t live without em’!!
I love vintage things!!! I love to sit and wonder who used a certain quilt, or what creations were prepared in a certain dish. Love it all
So of course I love Serendipity….it has a vintage vibe!
I collect scrapbook paper, or so my husband says. I buy it all the time and can totally envision the layout and pics I want to use with it and then I can’t bare cutting it up or covering it with photos. My hubby thinks I’m so wierd but I just keep buying more (just like I do with mj)
I am a collector of many things… seriously it is a disease called “Collect-da-Idis”! One of my favorite things to collect is antique hand painted porcelain buttons. I love going to antique fairs, shops and yard sales to find these little treasures. It always intrigues me who painted the button, who wore it and how did it end up with me. The detail on these buttons is amazing, to have the patience for painting so small and in such detail is a true art.
I love pens. Especially older pens. I think about all the things that were written by them and how those things affected other people. From love letters to daily list, pens were apart of it.
I love iced mochas…. I know that’s silly, but something about a mocha + ice makes me SO happy! I’ve been trying to avoid them for the sake of my waist line, so now it feels like an even MORE special treat!
i l.o.v.e. vintage photography equipment!!! yes, i do!
I love old wooden shoe molds!!!
I collect my daughter’s artwork. I seriously can’t seem to toss any of it out and she’s only 5. What am I going to do when she is in Kindergarten?
I am a lover books! I love a good story, whether it makes you laugh, cry, or contemplate the world we live in. My husband finally got me a kindle for Christmas this year (smart-clutter reduction;) but my oldest gets the book orders now from school which has me buying her all sorts of books, from junie b to some of my all time fav’s like Roald Dahl and Louis sachar. Love sharing the gift of reading with my kiddos!
i love love love snail mail! A nice card from a friend, postcards, a package… Makes me smile to see a handwritten letter;)
I collect fabric and buttons for sewing and charms for my daughter’s charm bracelet!!
unique finds from the beach
I have always loved swimming. I started out before I could walk and swam for most of my life up through and including my college career. Many people think I am crazy, but the smell of chlorine just gives me such a sense of comfort! I hope to pass on the love of water to my children!
I love and collect MJC clothing, of course!
Wow! SO hard to choose just one thing I love! Right now on a chilly but sunny afternoon. I think of how much I LOVE the Summer! So much to love about Summer that I could go on for days. But I will just sum it up by saying the Summer as a whole.
Well, I have to say I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cooking and baking! It is my therapy. When I am stressed, I just want to cook up some yummy new recipes or bake some sweets!
I am also a early elementary teacher and love to collect alphabet books!
Well, I asked my son in the same room as me “What is something I love or collect?” and he said, “Matilda Jane clothes.” I guess he is right!
Happy Birthday Carrie’s Mom!!!
I really like your vintage valentine cards. One of the things that I collect and enjoy is Christmas ornaments. There is no specific theme and include some that I have had since our lst Christmas together (40 yrs. ago)to some that were given to me last year for Christmas. I pack them away carefully and know that in a few months I’ll enjoy unpacking them.
I love, love, love baking cakes and cupcakes and then decorating them!!
I don’t really collect anything, but I do have a love for running. I never knew how much it truly meant to me until it was taken away during 7 months of bed rest due to pregnancy. It is the one thing that keeps my head straight and takes me away from all the stresses of life. So my love is running.
Carrie,
I LOVE and collect Steinbach ornaments. They are little wooden people each dressed as something different. I love looking at my Christmas tree that is covered in these little people each one different, it has a very vintage feel.
I LOVE vintage cameras and trunks! They are my obsession (well, next to mj anyway). Love thevintage valentines…,so cute!!
i love vintage quilt pieces! i find them in antique shops, take them home and make them into quilts!! fun stuff!
I love spraying on my favorite perfume before going to bed. The beautiful smell, while falling into a slumber, is very relaxing. Doing so also makes me feel real pretty.
I LOVE the Salsa dress!!
I collect old vintage bottles. I use them in my kitchen for a soap dispenser. Pop a liquor pourer in the top and you have it!
The more colorful and odd shaped the better!
I collect things that I adore that are reminders of my kids and their interests… little rocks I find in their pockets from the laundry… notes they’ve written to keep to remember their handwriting… doodles and drawings that they have discarded and I rescue from the trash… dandelions and other weed “flowers” that I’ve dried that they have given to me… little ribbons and bits of shiny plastic of their treasure hunts… Christmas toy catalogs with hundreds of circles and initials throughout… and more. All kept in zip lock bags with each of the kids’ names on them to pull out when I think I am having a rough day and help to remind me of all the small and seemingly insignificant moments of life that I truly treasure and love about my children forever. I am an extremely blessed mother of three – soon to be four – incredible gifts!
cards…like playing cards. It is amazing that once you start looking for them they just are. I find them as I’m out and about and pick them up. My goal is to create decks of cards. So far I have 2 full decks and a partial deck plus lots of extras. It is also interesting to see where they come from. I love picking them up.
I LOVE the laughter of my 2 kiddos…and DARK CHOCOLATE. XOXO
I LOVE those truly special moments that happen, and the world just kind of stops spinning, and you just sigh and think… “Wow, I am so lucky and I wish I could bottle this moment up and keep it in my heart forever.” They are the moments when life makes total and complete sense… When you know that there is something bigger than us all out there. My two crazy little girls and husband usually give me my “moments” and I am super lucky for that :).
With that being said… I love to collect pictures:). They are all so fun to look back on! Happy birthday to your momma!
Right now I am in love with the classic Ramona and Beezus books. I teach 3rd grade and I have been reading them to my students. We just finished our fourth book and watched the movie. We laughed the whole afternoon…I guess you could say I also love laughter.
I just love to get love notes from my kids and I keep them in a love scrapbook with a photo of them, taken during that time. It’s fun going back and reading their loving words from years ago
Thank you for a chance!
I love rainbows…they are so rare in Chicago. I grew up in Hawaii and it seemed like everyday there were rainbows…even double and triple raibows. I wish I appreciated them more. Now my girls get so excited to see one…it is real treat and gift from nature.
Happy Friday everyone!
I also love all things vintage and old…just love to see and old item and think about when it was new and what it meant to someone or what was going on during the time that it was current….I can get lost thinking about it
That being said, I don’t actually collect many of those things…but I do LOVE to collect a certain kind of christmas ornament (that is a remake of an older style ornaments) for “my” christmas tree. My dad likes them too because they remind him of the ornaments he had on his childhood tree
I love my daughters seashell collection. We pick them up every time we go to beach. It’s such fun, especially since we live in Nebraska.
Something i love…hmmm…my sweet family…and coffee!
i love cookbooks, both old and new. i love seeing how people cook in different areas of the country and how they cooked in the “olden” days.
I love that each morning when I wake up my kids run into my bed to suggke and watch morning cartoons. When my husband is not traveling he bring my girls in there “specials” aka chocolate milk and me my coffee. I know that the girls and I have come to expect this but this little routine each morning I know is filled with LOVE!
I love and collect vintage linens.
i collect matilda jane, lol. i love writing, i used to be really good at it, i loved writing short stories. but, I havent written in years…i have to figure a way to get back into it.
So sweet you wished your mom a happy birthday!
I collect Vintagey stuff involving Matroushka dolls, toadstools, and squirrels. Mainly porcelain.
I collect Starbucks mugs with the city name on it every time I travel to a new city!:)
I love to collect vintage teacups and saucers!
Love my family more than i could ever imagine. Totally love nature too…weird but so happy hiking in the woods.
Fabric!! I love to shop for new fabric. I often don’t know what I am going to create with it, but I know I will find something fun. Which leads me to think I also collect sewing patterns! Luckily I have lots of storage. I think my passion for fabric gives me an extra appreciation for what goes into every Matilda Jane creation.
I collect Christmas ornaments. I get one wherever we go and I have a million photo frame ornaments with my kids pictures. Each ornament is a memory and Christmas is my favorite time of year.
ok. this is a bit strange but honestly, i “collect” experiences. i love to travel to faraway lands but i also love to explore around our little city and experience the restaurants, nature, people, art, parks, extreme sports – everything! i try to capture a lot of these in photos – and i collect those all over my house
I love love my fan on high to go to sleep ….zzzzzz’s
I love to collect vintage photographs of my relatives! I have a photo of my grandmother from 1912!
I collect sweet notes and pictures from my sweet children (the ones in my house and the ones in my classroom)… There’s really nothing more sincere than a handmade card from a child…
Wow, my mother and I share a love for vintage too and our birthdays are tomorrow and the 21st, she always tells me I was the best birthday present she ever got!!!
One of my favorite treasures:
A few years back, I went to a garage sale, and found a stack of empty photo albums on the floor with a shoe box of black and white photos next to the albums. I picked up the shoe box, and took it to the woman who was having the sale, telling her these must have been left there on accident. She said no, the photos were for sale… so for a whopping $2 they were mine. I have NO idea how she could have left these family heirlooms go… Hundreds of black and white photos from the 1930’s – 1950’s, vacation photos, pics of women with glam hair and 1940’s dresses, with what I imagine was red lipstick on… photos of a newborn…growing into a toddler, and then a young boy… hilarious photos of couples having a picnic by a river in their bathing suits, with beer bottles all about, and their Boston terrier hanging out. I love to imagine who this family was, and I can’t believe that woman at the garage sale didn’t care about these heirlooms!
I collect owls, frogs and wreaths. I love decorating my house each season with all my goodies that were passes down to me from my wonderful mother in-law!!
I love to celebrate not just the big ocassions but all the little milestones in our every day life…especially where my littles are concerned. I love hanging on to sentimental stuff too, some of my most prized possessions are the little pieces of paper where my sweet grandma scribbled prayers for all of us grandkids when we were younger.
Love my babies giggles and cute toes! Nothing better in this world than the the sweet sounds of a baby and their cute little toes, especially when they are wanting to be walked around and the little pitter pats!
Well…since you’re talking about things I love & Valentines…I’d have to say, since I have a Valentine’s day daughter (Emma Grace), I love her :)!
I have a thing for pretty paper. I have never scrap booked a page in my life but I have a fascination for the pretty paper, stamps, stickers, diecut images and alllll if the pretty embellishments that come along with scrapbooking. I’ve been collecting for over 12 years and still love collecting it all…..even if it’s just to look at, lol
I love my family and I love to dress them oh so cute! My second love gets me in trouble with my first love or the hubby anyway!
I love 1980’s my little ponies we have over a hundred half where mine when I was a little girl and my girls adore them we have all the old episodes, they where my first loves before my first love came along :-)and now they are my girls too!
Hi there! Loved your post…so great that you wished your mom happy birthday! There are so many things I love…passionately crazy about..but I would have to say that I really love to downhill ski with all three of my kids. I love to collect unique Christmas ornaments from my travels and knowing that they will be passed onto my kids someday! TGIF
I love my daughter and the fact that she got to wear a dress of mine that my grandmother made for me when I was a baby. It is a red cotton pattern dress with red ric rac at the bottom and around neck. Hope her daughter wears it some day.
something I love & collect: old wooden buckets- the ones that have carved handles that are worn smooth and free of paint from years of work and packing them around. I’m like you, and think… I wonder where this has been?? I always look for them at flea markets have them sitting around everywhere!!
-Heather Capps
Vintage fabrics, buttons, and trims. I can’t get enough of them and then I have a hard time using them
We love to collect rocks, sticks, and general flotsam from the bay a block from the house. On any given day you will find random pieces collected in the tub, piled up in our play kitchen, or waiting to dry along our shelves from an impromptu painting session. It is a never ending source of entertainment.
I love owls. Especially in artwork and created by children. They are always original and interesting to look at. Plus they symbolize wisdom, keen sight and patience!
I love love the smell outside when grass has just been cut, or when honeysuckles are in bloom
I also love my kiddos and their goodmorning hugs and kisses …( we call them butterfly kisses)
I love to collect vintage fabrics and wallpaper. I just adore the patterns! Probably why I’m in love with Matilda Jane.
I love buttons!!!!! I collect any that I can get my hands on
There are soooooo many crafty things you can do with them. The girls and I LOVE to make button flowers out of them!
I LOVE COLLECTING PHOTOGRAPHS BECAUSE THE MEMORIES MADE ARE SOMETIMES HARD TO REMEMBER, BUT PHOTOGRAPHS BRING BACK THOSE PRECIOUS MEMORIES OF THE GOOD TIMES THAT ARE HAD! I LOVE TO SCRAPBOOK AND PUT THOSE PHOTOS ON PRETTY PAGES!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
I collect Dept, 56 Christmas in the City pieces, love the Big Apple in the City and since I don’t live there, bring it to my house
My grandma saved every card she ever got & put them in a scrapbook. I love looking at all those vintage cards! I also got all her old fiesta dishes & love when I find a new piece!
I collect Lladro porcelain figurines. I bought my first piece when I was in Spain with my high school Spanish class. I loved the muted colors and creamy finish. My family added to it when I graduated high school. Then college graduation. Then my masters, and then my wedding. Two more for each of my two sweet babies. And a dear friend has added to it just because. It’s such a beautiful reminder of all those wonderful moments in life. Only my family and dearest friend really know that about me so that makes it even more special.
I love and collect angels, everything from figurines to cards to clothes with these wonderful creatures. My little princess is named Angelica after my passion!
I can’t get enough of used/vintage furniture. I love looking at craigslist & in Sal-Val for furniture. In particular I love chairs. I don’t know what it is, maybe the lines…maybe it’s the promise of friends and family hanging around in them. I have chairs to hang out in in just about every room when I think about it. I even have armchairs in the corner of the dining room, and kitchen. I realized in the past year, that I apparently inherited this from my daddy. He passed away suddenly last March and my sis and I had to go through everything, and choose what we wanted to keep. When we had all of his furniture together I realized just how many chairs he had too! So it makes me smile that I take after him
I am inspired by anything vintage, I started collecting vintage salt and pepper shakers after I inherited some from my Great Grandmother, now my collection has grown and I love to add to it.
Something that I love love love is my grandma’s old costume jewelry. When I was young I thought my grandmother was the most glamorous thing with her big sparkly rhinestone earrings and chunky bracelets. When she passed away, I was still in college and I really wanted to ask my grandpa for it but just didn’t have he heart. He was devastated by her death – as were we all – but he had a really hard time coping. Recently, he has started giving it out to the grandchildren when they come to visit and it is so cute to see my nieces and daughters walking around with these huge clip on earrings and colored gem and rhinestone bracelets on. The jewelry looks so different to me as an adult but I still remember how I felt when she wore them. I can’t help but laugh and smile because this is exactly what she would have wanted to do with all of it. It would have made her day to see these six little ladies walking around all glitzed up.
I love teaching and I love to collect old school books. The pictures are my favorite.
Besides MJ? Hmmm…that’s a hard one. I do have a small collection of old tins. Like the ones they used to sell flour and sugar in. I only have 4 so far. I started collecting these last year when I stumbled across a really cool green colored sugar tin at a barn sale. I hope that it continues to grow!
I Love pictures of my kids, the best advice was you can never take to many pictures! So I have taken/collected Alot over the years, I love looking back and seeing them so little!
I love my family, my friends and my pets. What do I collect? Honestly, the only thing I really “collect” is Matilda Jane lol.
I LOVE collecting Christmas Ornaments from all the places my husband and I (and now children) have traveled to. It is so much fun to decorate the tree every year and reminis (sp???) about all the fun memories we have shared together :)!
I really love Peonies- I look forward to them every year.. the smell, the beautiful bouquet on my table, the fact that they were a part of my wedding bouquet, they are something I adore. (This is besides my Kiddos, family & Husband of course ;))
I love to collect bags from places I go. Purses, duffels, beach bags. I love to go in search of a bag and pull out one I haven’t used lately and go down memory lane for the day to the place and the experience that made the bag mine!
I love lots of things, my family most importantly. It’s hard to pick one thing to comment on, so I won’t.
I love black and white photos, especially of my kids.
I love good design,(I am an Interior designer), fashion, cars, architecture, it doesn’t have to be a particular style, I just know when it is good.
I love kittens, sunsets, good wine, a good book, running outside on a 70 degree day with no humidity, kicking a soccer ball. I love vacations, blues the color of the tropics, and I love the sound of my kid’s giggles.
Erin
I love milk glass and have a very small collection from both my grandmothers. It is beautiful and each piece is unique. I too love vintage valentines and just hosted a bridal shower with those colors!
I love collecting art…my kids art that is. I have been for the last 6 years and plan on putting something together for them when they graduate!
My mom and dad started a tradition beginning the year that they were married of purchasing a Biedermann ornament every Christmas. They now have 35 ornaments on their tree and began a set for my twin sister and for me when we got married. They have also started a collection for each of their six grandchildren! http://www.biedermannandsons.com/
I love flamingos! Not the kitschy stuff…my favorite piece is an old metal serving tray with a faded picture of flamingos in a river that belonged to my great grandma. Have a great day!
I love my job because I get to work with 600 kids everyday. They make me laugh, cry, pull my hair out, and worry. Their such awesome little people and I wish they believed in themselves as much as I believe in them. I wish everyone could see them the way I see them.
I used to collect unicorns when I was little and then owls when I was in college. My sweet husband gave me a wine cork holder that is a super cute iron wine bottle for vday! I am so excited to collect special corks. He already had a few in there with the date and location of where we drank it. My fav was dated that night! Vday 2012 – at home with the 3 loves of my life! I am excited about my new collection and think it will last longer than unicorns and owls! Lol!
I love all things vintage and/or antique, I love thrifting with my best friend. I recently found a big vintage letter ‘K’ which is the first letter in my last name so I am starting to collect letter ‘K’s …although I only have this one to start my collection.
I love to blog…not for the sake of a huge following (b/c I don’t have one) but for knowing i can look back at memories with my babies that I would never be able to remember without writing them down!
Chocolate. I love it. It could be dark, milk or white, doesn’t matter as long as the quality is good. My obsession is pretty bad because my day is not complete until I have had some! Throw a little wine in the mix, and I’m in heaven! Aside from MJ, chocolate is my one vice
I love my husband, two sons, bulldog puppy & family. I love collecting sea glass that I find on the beaches that we visit.
I LOVE my sweet granparents! They are 92yrs old & 93yrs old and still going strong. They will celebrate their 71st, YES…71st! wedding anniversary on March 1st! It is amazing to hear about times in their life, to see their love, affection, & laughter towards one another & towards life. Just amazes me & definately inspires me! What I absolutely LOVE is that my children get to know them & interact with them…..THAT means the world!! I LOVE my G&G!!
I love blueberry pie… and fried pickles. Obviously not together, lol
I have a new collection going- genuine adult friends, that accept me as I am,laugh with me, cry with me and hold my hair when the drinks call for it. So far I have an amazing collection
I collect Christmas ornaments! When each of my Mimi’s grandchildren were born, she started a collection of Christmas ornaments that we each got when we got married. That way we would have something for our first Christmas tree. Well, I guess it stuck and every year at Christmas I add to my collection! I think it is a sweet tradition, and love that my Mimi (my children’s great grandmother) has now started collections for them!
Every since I was a little girl, I have collected books. I loved to read and kept almost every book that I ever bought. I have some books from my grandma that date back to 1910. Books take you to places you have never been, let you meet people who you might otherwise never have known.
I know it sounds silly, but I love life! We are only here for a short while and I try to love everyday! Life is too short for it not to be filled with love!!
I love watching my husband with our two girls.
I unconditionally love my dog, Daisy! She has taught me that love has absolutely no boundaries and really does grow stronger everyday! We have been through my major life milestones thus far together and she is my true companion! I adopted her when I was young and single and she has seen joy, tears, marriage, kids and everything in between! Love, love, love my 14 year old Daisy-dog!
I love fabric, yes I am addicted and I collect all things sewing, my grandmothers sewing tools, thread and buttons, old fabric etc.
I love the first signs of spring: the smell of the earth awakening, the first little green shoots peeking through the ground, my daughter running outside with the sun glinting off her hair, my son’s look of wonder at the new world.
Love vintage, especially the unexpected! I was at an antique store/flea market with my mom today and saw the coolest blue/green vintage samsonite luggage set! So tempted to get it for my 8 yr. old daughter! Thanks for the opportunity to win! Love Matilda Jane!
thanks,
janea
I love life and all it’s craziness!
I love the hybrid school that I created for my twins. Love teaching, love finding other great teachers to hook and reel onto our team, love running it, love brainstorming and love creating new homeschool classes! So thankful for their unique “school” experience!
My daughter started a rhyme collection. We’ll be driving along and say rhyming words – and they will go in her collection. We’ve created the collection together.
What I love is
First being a mom, but also being a pediatric therapist and being able to
Work with children who can’t do things we
Take for granted every day. I am blessed to have 14 children I work with weekly. Especially for a foster home
I work
In who has three little girls
With special needs. I love playing a role
In their lives and helping to show them too that they are loved. I am truly blessed with a gift to help them.
One thing I have always loved is the way my Grandmother greets me EVERY time I walk into her home! She is so happy to see me and it is pure, unconditional, LOVE! Even if I see her days in a row, her greeting always makes me feel like the most important person in the world! The best part is that she greets my daughters in the exact same way with as much love and excitement. I know they will grow up with that love, however short or long of a time it may be, and remember her fondly someday.
Some things I love besides my family (because they are clearly my biggest loves):
1. photography… being able to freeze time forever with a click of a button… ya, love it big time.
2. vintage suitcases… I squeal like a piggy when I find one
3. I love pondering over song lyrics
4. yes, this will sound cheesy… but I do love our mj collection, looking at all the goodies hanging in my girls closet makes me happy, and I always remember what she wore on special occasions… the raven went to Versailles, the cher climbed the Eiffel tower, the lollipop saw the most fabulous fireworks in the Swiss mountains.
Thimbles! I’ve loved (and collected) them since I was a little girl.
I have always loved vintage things. My great grandmother collected old china teacups and saucers from all over the world and I continued her passion once she passed away. She also loved vintage costume jewelry and would make jewelry boxes with the old pieces. She was amazing and I learned to appreciate the value in old but beautiful things from her.
I love to collect old bowls! I use to just have them for decorations around my house, but now I love use them for everyday things! They make food taste better, they make the counter look brighter and they make me smile wondering about their history!
I love My Family & Friends and I collect the memories we have share.
i collect frogs lol, figurines in porcelain, wood, stone, etc, even plush toys. when i visit a new place, i come home w/ some type of frog. oh and shoes, i LOVE shoes!!
I collect a few things….but my latest collection has been sea glass. Here in Okinawa the island is covered in this glass. Glass tumbled and smoothed by the waves, water and sand, creating smooth, frosted shards of glass. It really is beautiful, and will always remind me of our time living in Japan.
I love old/vintage furniture. All my desks, dressers, and nightstands are old ones that I’ve redone. I love a good project.
I collect beautiful Matilda Jane clothing!!
I collect teapots and tea cups! I actually have a tea pot from each of my great grandmas. I had a few complications after giving birth to my first child and my grandma made me a special tea in her mothers tea pot while taking care of me.. She passed it down to me afterwards. It is very special to me. It started my collection. :). I grew up enjoying tea parties with my mother and 2 sisters and I love that tea cups resemble to me, love, laughter, good food, and long talks with those I love.
Of course I love my family, but that’s a given. I love my pugs like crazy!
I LOVE to bake!! I am always making desserts and sweet treats. . . It is so fun to share this love with my two litte girls!! ;))
I collect Matilda Jane, does that count?
Something I collect… Tupperware!!! I never turn down an invite to a tupperware party – love to buy it! I think I like the thought of being really organized – maybe I will be REALLY organized someday! What do I love – Being a MOM!!! Can’t imagine my life without my two daughters – they fulfill me and provide me TRUE happiness!
Can I just add…. on a lighter note….I LOVE ELLEN!! Everyone should dance like no one is watching
She is spreading the love too!
Well, according to my husband I collect “old crap”. To me it’s gorgeous vintage finds that no one else wants, but that I can rework and put back into USE! I love giving the old NEW life!
I love this post, Carrie! I also collect all kinds of vintage pretties and have for as long as I can remember… vintage sheet music, Christmas postcards, pottery vases from the 1950’s and 60’s, pretty old picture frames, vintage tablecloths… and so much more!!!
I love my family and friends! Next to them, I love and collect photographs of the people I love. No moment is sweeter than looking through an old collection of photographs and reliving the emotions!
I love all things crafty and clever. But one thing that I just CAN NOT pass up is a perfect photo frame. Small gift stores with different pieces that I have never seen before. I seek them out and sometimes I know exactly which photo I want to go in it, but often I attempt to take the perfect photo FOR THE FRAME… is that backwards? I am ok with it if it is…
Happy long weekend!
I collect needle work mostly from 2nd hand stores and some yard sales. Do you know how hard it is to make them? I know my Grandma and my MIL spent/spend many hours on them. They are so beautiful and when they pass most of their families just tosses them because they have no value. Little do they know, that they do. You just need to stop and look at them.
I try to do my own needle work, but I need many more years of practice.
My favorite things that seem to accumulate: insipirational decorating ideas torn from magazines, recipes I’m sure I will make one day, beautiful books, and photos of my sweet girls.
Something that I LOVE,my 3 wonderful children and my husband.:) Something I collect…I will collect anything that catches my eye, heart, and it has gotta make me smile:)I like teapots, and cups, the vintage ones that just make the right chime when you tap it with a spoon. Girls in Matilda Jane having a tea party,I’m smiling thinking about it:)
My absolute love is my youngest daughter’s laugh. It is the perfect combination of her older sister and brother’s laughs combined. Uninhibited, honest, pure laughter.
I LOVE watching my son pitch. Just love it. I do. And I just have to tell ya that I think the baseball knot dress should be one of the standards at MJC. I made a couple last summer, inspired by the Shasta, and it was way too much work to make a new one every year. So, how about you doing team colors and making knot dresses for all the sisters to wear to their brothers’ games
Did I mention I LOVE my girls in their MJC?
I collect old vintage windows. They are all over my office and home. I put them by themselves and I also use them to display notes, cards, pictures and to hold my daughter’s hairbows. I just love how they look!
And I would have to say one of my loves and something I can’t live without is my coffee. Black or flavored. Coffee can always make my day or night better.
I love to flea market and garage sale….I could be driving by on the way to a wedding but if I see that sale sign. I take a quick look. The interesting things you find and the people you meet. But my biggest collection is Chalkware Asian figures. My whole fireplace shelves are filled with them. The old vintage ones…small, large, chipped, etc. I adore them. The colors, the images, I just love.
My kiddos!
I’m a total geek and proud to admit it. I collect things from my 2 favorite sic-fi shows…Star Wars and Star Trek. I’m not one of those that keeps things in a box just to look at though. We play with all the toys and I use my mugs and pens. As a matter of fact, we are off to the Orlando Mega-Con today…..yeah!!!
Love my two sweet kiddos-
I love…putting on brand new socks…a nice hot bath to wash the day away…pumpkin pie…sliding into my bed with freshly laundered sheets…snuggling with my three babies…when my labradoodle, Gus, purrs like a cat…running on the beach in the morning before anyone else…treating a friend to lunch…trying to make my kids laugh every day…hot yoga…delivering the last meal on my MOW route…chicken parm…when my husband looks at me and really sees me…
Of the many things I love, the thing that makes me smile the most are my two children. Especially the way my 10 month old starts squealing and clapping when his big sister sits down next to him. She in turn then always gives him a kiss and says “I love you so much little guy.” It melts my heart. Now, tangible things have to lead my new love to buttons. I recently started making my daughters hair bows and can’t get enough of all of those cute buttons. I think I’m obsessed.
I love shabby chic tableclothes and vintage dresser scarfs with embroidery!
I love collecting ladybugs. My children in my first grade class seem to find any and everything with a ladybug on it. I have gotten anything from cute little pens to cute kitchen rugs and baking dishes. My kids know me well.
I collect buttons, old and new. I inherited several jars of them from my mom and they are full of buttons of all sorts. I always remove buttons from soon to be discarded clothing and I can’t tell you how many times I have had to dig back in those jars to replace a lost button.
I have a weird love for fabrics! Maybe that’s why I adore platinum so much…so many different fabrics to look at!! I sew every now and then for my children and home, and I just collect fabric that I love all the time hoping to make something out of it one day.
I love vintage airplane maps, photos, and “how to” books. Also, those fabulous old airline ads from life magazine. I feel as if I should have been workingduring those white glove days. My husband and I are both in the aviation industry and it fun to see how things have changed over the years. Good and Bad!
I have always loved and collected owls ever since growing up in a 70’s home that never changed. We had a funky owl toilet bowl cover that I always loved. Now that owl have gotten so popular, it makes findng stuff a lot easier:)
I too love Serendipity!
One of my loves are old vases. I have old flower vases from the different times I have received flowers. I love that each one is unique in its own special way. I love them because; I know that someone very special to me took the time and thought to send it my way. Don’t get me wrong I love the flowers too; especially the daisies and day lilies.
After my grandfather passed away, my grandmother gave away a special pieces china and crystal that was given to her from him. I didn’t want the expensive pieces. I wanted a vase! I wanted a piece her wonderful memories of the time she received flowers from my grandfather! They were so in LOVE!
I love movies where people succeed against the odds in non-traditional sports: Stand and Deliver (math), Akeelah and the Bee (spelling bees), Cool Runnings (Jamaican bobsledding), etc. I’m thinking they’re going to have to make a movie about Jeremy Lin one of these days soon.
I love my family more than anything…my husband is amazing and my three kids are incredible. I collect books…love to read books and love to hold onto them so I can pick them up again and again and read them. I also LOVE to COLLECT MJ for my little girl…and although it sounds kind of funny…it’s really true!
I am a general hazard in an antique store but Ok, I already know this is weird but, I LOVE old cake carriers! They are fabulous!! Back in the day they weren’t made of plastic like Tupperware, they were metal and often hand painted!! Too cute!! It is easy to pass them by cuz I think most people don’t know what they are! Wish I could attach some pics, I’m sure you would love!!
I love/hang on to special cards sent to me or my kids by loved ones on special occasions. I still have the first letter my father ever wrote me when I was in the 4th grade after winning my first national fair showmanship. Whenever I am having a bad day or need a boost, I love to go through the old cards to give myself a boost
From my great-grandmother, I inherited a love of quilts. I have her collection, and since she passed, I have added to it. ALOT. Old quilts fascinate me, the amount of work put into them is amazing. I can picture the woman who crafted it sitting sewing for hours, seems like a lost art.
I love to collect seashells. This valentines was the 5 year anniversary of the death of my father. He lived in Florida so we always collected seashells. My bathroom is decked out in seashells, palm trees, and beach scenes in remberance of him. That’s what I love to collect.
I love all of the things i have made by my grabdmothers. Pot holders, quilts, Christmas Tree Skirts, etc. But my absokute favorite is all of the handwritten recipes i have from my great grabdmother. I never had the chance to meet her, but those old faded pages make me feel a little closer to her.
Toys with love. I am a Velveteen Rabbit fan and have always found so much beauty, quite sadness, and the years of love put into a toy to get it to that ‘well loved’ moment. I have a bear and my frist stuffed animal from when I was a baby on my dresser. Both are torn and tattered, and both have such a wisdom about them with small wry smiles. I could cry if I stared to long thinking of time and life, but it fills me with love.
I love making costumes for my girls, and i collect dishes like pink Lu Ray.
I love making costumes for my girls and collecting pink LuRay dishes.
I collect wrought iron decorative pieces, mostly birdcages, but I love the vintage look of all things made with wrought iron!
I collect roosters….it is my chinese zodiac sign, along with my mom, grandmother and daughter.
I have every ticket from every concert, sorting event, play, art show , ballet, etc I have been to since I was in high school (20 years!) also every postcard anyone has sent me. Talk about walking down memory lane. These things are so special to me! I also have my grandmother’s old journals-my favorite entry is the one she wrote the day I was born. Priceless!
I love reading a book on a rainy day with a great cup of coffee!
I love books! So much that I cannot imagine going digital…ever. There is something about holding a book in my hands, turning the pages, getting lost in the story, folding down the corner of the page to mark my spot.
Obviously I love MJ!! It has become my new love, but my continuous love has always been for SHOES!!!I can never have enough shoes!!!
My side of the closet is filled with shoe boxes for my favorite shoes that need some extra love!!
I love planning birthday parties and decorating for Christmas. There is just something about sparkle and ribbon that gives me that nostalgic feeling. And I love creating special memories or my girls.
I collect Vintage Curtis Candy items because my grandpa worked there. They are perfect in my original 1940s kitchen!
Love is rocking your newborn granddaughter to sleep. Her name is Charlotte Rae who smells beautiful, is soft and fuzzy headed and looks just like her mommy.
I love my kids. They are my joy. I’m out of town right now and missing them so much. :/
I have an obsession with children’s books. You can never have enough books!! We must have close to 1,000 of ‘em. I used to teach and now I’m a SAHM to 4 girls and have always loved literature.
I collect tiny seashells. There is nothing I enjoy more than an afternoon on a beach on Sanibel Island collecting shells. Nature is an amazing thing.
Oh I love my little girl more than anything in this world. I have this odd collection of really big coffee mugs
I collect cut glass… Mainly passed down from family members. I love using a piece with our regular dishes and talking to my girls about the history or memories I associate with their great great aunt or great grandma who have passed on but left me beautiful pieces of their lives. I don’t save it for special occasions… I bring it out to feel like my love ones are here watching my girls grow up.
I collect old children’s books that my parents and I loved as children so I can read them to my kids. My favorite book in my collection is Mr. Pudgins (which I read in elementary school). I cannot wait to read it to my oldest in a year or two.
I love old black and white photo’s I keep and collect all that I can get my hands on.
I collect MJ!
I love and collect bird nests. They are so beautiful and intricate!
I love Matilad Jane Clothing! Seriously! But other than that I love quilts. Old quilts, Family quilts, New quilts, quilt I *attempt* to make, anything that looks like a old quilt! I use them in almost evcery photo session I do! I have quilts from my great, great grandmothers, and shame shame but we use them! They made them to be used and that is what I do! Nothing better than curling up under one and readding a good book (<—which I also love!)
I collect kind words that people have spoken..kindof odd but definitely portrays my love language…when i am having a tough time i pull out nice things that people have said to me and always makes me feel better
I like to collect vintage boy and girl salt shakers. My fav is a victorian boy and girl kissing. So sweet and unique
I love to collect matchbooks from every restaurant or place we visit. I put them in vintage glass jars as decoration. Sometimes I’ll pick out a handful and I’m able to remember a time, a place, and a story of where they came from. This is a completely free item to collect, so I have more money left to spend on Matilda Jane !
I love puting a smile on little ones’ faces.
I collect postcards and keychains. I have ever since I was a young girl; the places I’ve been. From Alaska to the Middle East, and so many places in between!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE tulips
They are one of my favorite thing.
And besides collecting MJ, I also collect vintage coasters!
I love/collect hand carved animals made out of stone and buy one in every state or country that I visit.
My love is not as creative as the others, but I LOVE a McDonalds Diet Coke, my Ipad and my Dyson. Could not live without these!
I love my family, and love old fishing lures, they are amazing to see how they were created back when my great grandfather was a fisherman, and have been amazed since collecting, thankyou
i love all things vintage too! love to imagine the story behind the item and i love the way they look too! for me it’s vintage Tea cups!
I love Spring. The flowers starting to pop out of the ground. Perfect weather to be outside. Longer days. Love it all!
I LOVE the quiet and serenity of a house with no one home. Right now, I am home alone and it is just what the doctor ordered! These moments are few and far between, but much needed.
Sounds silly, but I seem to have accumulated a collection of hair bows for my daughter. She won’t wear a single one of them…but I keep buying them anyways!
I collect socks, buttons, & whistles!
I’ve never “collected” things until I had kids. Now I collect everything I can get my hands on. Hospital wristbands, love notes, artwork, quotations…you name it. I also stash their teeth (in baggies) in my sock drawer. Shhhh please don’t tell them my hiding spot!
There are so many things I LOVE, it is hard to pick just one…but I will have to say my 3 kiddos(soon to be 4). Though I did not give birth to them, they have given me a NEW life and I am truly blessed!
I love making photo books that document my daughter’s life. I am in love with my garment steamer too….couldn’t live without it!
I LOVE my mom’s antique toaster collection. She’s got about 20-25 of them that sit at the top of her cabinets in her kitchen. And I love hunting for new ones for her.
white pottery pieces! plain ol’ white in all shapes and sizes. (And yes – I really struggle at those pottery painting places. Why on earth would someone ruin a perfectly good piece of clean, white pottery?)
My 6 year old daughter and I collect buttons. We especially love vintage ones & those that come with our MJ pieces, but we will gladly stow any type away in our stain-glass mason jars. We use them for crafts, artwork, and of course for the fun of changing out an existing button with something different & unique. Practicing sewing buttons on felt was one of the first hand crafts my daughter did at 4 years old, and just recently when she had to bring 100 of something to her “100 days of school” celebration she carefully counted out her favourites.
I love my rescue dogs! And no, I don’t collect them, wish I could have more. I love the idea that we have given a home to two dogs that may not otherwise have one. While they came with issues, it was well worth the time to love and work with them. It is so wonderful, now that I have kids, to watch my kids interact and love the dogs too.
Rocks! I have boxes of them and when I travel I always bring some back.
I love helping children everyday with my job and more than anything I love coming home every night to such a loving – healthy – happy family! ( I also love getting compliments, feeling confident and matching my girl in our MJC!!) thanks!
I forgot our collection – we collect thank you notes and snow globes!
I’m not really much of a collector (other than clothes for my kiddos, haha), but I LOVE finding unique and adorable buttons. I am not sewer, or much of a crafter, but I buy them and have a big jar — saving them till I can figure out what the heck to make with ‘em!
It is a good thing that my name means butterfly because I collect them and the flowers that they love. I have bought butterflies from all over the world the St. Martian, France, Puerto Rico. And I collect flowers for my yard too. I check craigslist for free giveaways and sometimes I even pull my car over and dig up flowers from the side of the road ( yes I keep a shovel in my car!) I have not paid for any of the flowers in my garden!
I collect Madame Alexander dolls. They are small dolls with blinking eyes and have the same facial features. I have a case of them and I have started buying my daughter one at each Christmas so that she has her own to add to her collection when I pass mine down to her. It makes me smile to think about my great great grandchildren will be able to share the love and memories of myself through these someday.
I love five fingered vases. I saw one on my mother in-laws mantle years ago and fell in love with it. A search for one turned into an obsession. I now have a collection of 21 of them. They are quite unusual and most people have never seen them before. She has since passed away, but one quick look in my curio cabinet reminds me of her. Her five fingered vase sits right up front!
I collect the keys from each home we’ve lived in. We’ve moved around quite a bit so I have quite the collection. I’ve been trying to think of a creative way to display each of them along with the address of the home it belonged to.
I love my family, I feel so blessed to have a great husband and two sweet girls.
I love antiques and the color red, it just makes me happy:)
I love your vintage flair! I too love all things vintage. My (AMAZING) mom and I have a sweet collection of butter pats, the sweet tiny plates that adorn antique china. So fun and unique to collect!
Goodness! what do i not collect! the one thing i really like to collect are shoes! yep its a crazy addiction but I am sure I am not the only shoe collector amongst us!
The other thing I collect is anything to do with Whistler’s mother-yep that is our last name so I get everything I can!
Besides loving my family and coffee
I adore vintage (shabby chic!)and antique things. I dream of one day owning an old farm house with a big wrap around porch where I can sit and enjoy the quiet. I collect family heirlooms. Things that have been passed down for generations in our family that mean so much to me. I love the fact that things seemed so much simpler “back then”.
I originally couldn’t think of anything that I loved enough to collect. But then I cleaned out my purse and realized that I obviously have a love for lip balm/gloss. I didn’t realize the extent of my collection until I put them all in one place
I love collecting hair things for me. Even before I had a daughter. I love beautiful barrettes, headbands, pony tail holders, etc. Anthing unique and different. I love them sparkly too
Oh and I have a passion for collecting tights and cute knee socks for me too. I like the cute thick patterned tights for grown ups, not just kids. I wish MJ would make some.
I love me some MJ for my beautiful four year old.. So right now we are collecting MJ clothes!!! We have to have them..
I collect old canning jars, something about the blues and greens makes my heart go pitter pat.
I love to collect vintage tablecloths, which is probably why I love MJ so much…the amazing fabrics. have a great day!
I collect rocks, of all things. My curious kids are obsessed with the beauty of rocks. I used to be annoyed by all of the rocks they would give me but then I realized that they really appreciate rocks and how different they can be. I can’t save every rock they give me but I save some to remind myself of how unique and passionate my kids are. My favorite rock they have given me is shaped like a heart.
I love and collect unusual buttons….and that has proven me well with Matilda Jane! I have LOVED collecting all the adorable buttons from the tags and have quite a nice collection now. Keep the buttons coming, please!
I love coffee, soduko puzzles and a really good book:) I also love containers, all kinds, big, small, really old or brand new.
I love the smell of coffee brewing in the morning, I also love the coffee. I love soduko puzzles and I love a good book. I also love containers, any kind, small, big, really old or brand new:)
Love old cookbooks. Especially 1’s from my relatives (great-grandma’s, aunt’s, etc). Love seeing their handwritten notes and telling my daughters at the table “this was great-grandpa’s favorite meal”. There is something special about reaching into the past and reliving bits and pieces of it (and sharing it with our children). Thanks for the chance to win!
I love all of my old toys from when I was growing up. My mom was great and kept them all for me and my twin sister, so we still have them all…Carebears, Strawberry Shortcakes, Cabbage Patch Kids, etc. It’s so neat to see all of those things coming back and to be able to share with our kids that we played with that stuff too. They just don’t make toys like they used to also, so it’s great to be able to pass them down to our children for them to get as much joy from them as we did.
I love collecting anything vintage with violets. There is just something about violets that make me happy.
collect vintage linens. Mostly table cloths. I have 3 children and keep them (the linens not kids) put away but pull them out randomly to look at them and smile. I am using a vintage pillow cover for a cafe curtain right now in my laundry room
My daughter is my love – every day from dawn til dusk. She lives life to the fullest and makes mine better every day.
I LOVE watching my son pitch, and I LOVE my girls wearing MJC.
I collect vintage butter pats, specifically pansy ones. Someone else out there does too, because we are always bidding against each other in online auctions
I love at the end of a hot summer day laying on the end of the dock at our cabin with my 4 little girls watching the clouds roll overhead with a thin blanket over us with our juice boxes in hand talking about our day.
I love to go to the movies. There’s just something about seeing a movie and eating popcorn that I can’t get enough of.
I collect Milk Glass. Ive always loved it!
I love…love….love to cuddle up in our fleece blankets with my kidos, eat popcorn and watch movies. It makes me happy and comforts me after a long day or week.
In regards to collecting, I am sucker for traditions and collecting things that my kids will one day be able to look back at and say this was mine when….. Call it old school or sappy who knows. Each child has an ornament collection and Christmas tree, then special toys and even photographs that are uniquely theirs.
Something I love… I would have to say my two girls. I never understood love until I had them. They are a blessing n my life!
I love the smell and feel of old handmade quilts. They remind me so much of the older members of my family, my grandmother and my great aunts. My grandmother was more like my mother since I was without one and one of my great aunts took the role of my grandmother. They were both very important in shaping the woman I have become today and I love them so for that. While I no longer have either of them here to hold onto, I still have the handmade quilts my great aunt, grandmother and other members of my family helped to make for me. I now have a 6 year old daughter of my own that I can pass the wedding ring quilt on to when the time is right. She will have a gift of 4 generations of our family. What an amazing thing!
mjc and seashells!
well…I used to collect Winnie the pooh items, then I moved onto those Willow tree angels, now….now I collect vintage(if you can call it that) MJ- I adore so many pieces that it became a hobby- and a collection! I know all their names, what line, and what mixes and matches with what- I guess when you love something you should really know it!!!! -Leslie
OH MY GOSH= just realized that I forgot about a HUGE passion- like how did I overlook that??????? Dragonflies! I LOVE dragonflies- I photograph them, and draw them, and I love to see them in our backyard- I know a lot of different kinds too! Wow- can’t believe I forgot that!
I love learning about people and their life experiences…it always help me learn more about myself and understand others. I love to collect hats for my daughter and thankfully, she loves wearing them.
I love all things vintage too! Imagining the era from which things were made and who owned them is so intriguing! Of course, I love my two little darlings too, ages 1 & 3. They are the light of my life.
I love and “collect” family heirlooms…I keep everything and rather than keep it stored away, I display them around the house or use them in my everyday activities. I have china, glasswear, bakewear, linens, books, schoolwork, letters, jewelry, photos, clothes, shoes, locks of hair…a little collection of some of the sweetest moments and memories of mine, my parents and grandparents that I can pass along and share with my family while we create and document our own moments and memories.
I love having a day off all to myself to catch up on everything & tomorrow is finally that day! : )
I just love my children, they are the reason that I am alive today. They are my entire heart, I am blessed to have 3 living children and 2 that are in Heaven. I count my lucky stars and thank God each and every day for every single one of them
I adore vintage silver pieces!….teapots, sugar & cream sets, trays, chargers, and spoons. I can’t pass an antique shop without going in to check out the treasures.
I have always collected things, it’s so fun. Ladybugs-anything with them as they are good luck! Shot glasses at one point, pens that write cool and lately I have been collecting Boots (cowboy and riding styles are my fav), can never have too many! Kids love going to goodwill-sometimes you can find the best treasures there!
I love cards too
I used to look at my Granny’s old scrapbooks with every card she received as a child into the courtship of her and my grandpa. I would sit there for hours looking at the vintage pictures and penmanship. Each card loving pasted with flour glue, old and yellowed with age. It took me to a different time and place. I loved that my Granny shared something so special with me.
I have even started the tradition with my children, saving every card that I have received as a child up until the present and made scrapbooks just like my Granny. I even started card scrapbooks for my children. I love looking at them and have so many great memories with every page.
Those vintage valentines are such great finds! I LOVE/collect milk glass.
I love collecting Piggies and Paws art work. They turn hands and feet into creative paintings—a hand becomes a tree house, a foot becomes a fairy. It’s such a creative and sweet way to watch my daughter’s hand print and foot print grow year after year. We are building a new house this Spring and I can’t wait to dedicate am entire wall to my daughter growing from my baby to a little girl!
I love to collect dishtowels, especially the vintage looking embroidered ones!
I love finding unique, beautiful clothing for my daughter.
I love anything my kids make – all of their art projects from school, Christmas ornaments, drawings, etc. I especially love anything with their handprints on them!!!
This past year, my grandmother passed away and I found a collections of buttons that I remember playing with at her house when I was little. I decided to take the buttons and create a beautiful vintage tree out of them. I have that tree placed next to a picture of my grandma and remember her with love. I love the memories that come with the buttons.
I love to collect fabric, yep, I’m a fabric hoarder! Love to look, play with and sew with amazing colors and designs…probably why I’m also in love with all things Matilda Jane!!
I love the poems my husband writes me. Everyone of them is framed and displayed around my home!
I LOVE my children’s artwork. We frame various pieces throughout the year in our family room “gallery”. Their creativity astounds me, kind of like Platinum!

I am a collector of cookbooks…I believe it was born in me! My mom loved cookbooks and when she passed away I received ALL her cookbooks and have continued the tradition! It is wonderful to pick a book up and thumb thru it and realize “omg! That is one my mom had made”. And then make it and share it with my kids! A smile crosses my face when they love it as much as I remember loving it too! Of course, I still add to my collection and love cooking things I have never tried before…sometimes I feel a bit sorry for my family who has to be guinea pigs! Lol!
I absolutely adore the freckles on the faces of my sweet little munchkins. My son and I name our favorites. Norman, on the left side of his nose, never fails to make me smile. The freckles themselves are so sweet, but the excitement in my son’s voice when he notices a new one makes my heart so happy!
We hava a collection of seed jars and boxes. My grandpa oened a hardware store.
I started collecting Christopher Radko ornaments when I was in high school. Over ten years later, I now have enough to fill a tree at Christmas. My daughters now have their own collection started…I began buying for them when they were born.
I love pictures- I mean, love them. Love the moments that they capture. I love the smiles and the silliness.
I also love diet coke and sweet treats- They help me keep up with my girls.
Oh how i love to collect the clothes that both of my babies have outgrown…. In the backs of their closets hang the outfits that I frequently take out to touch smell and kiss and it takes me back to the special moments that happened while my babies were wearing them!! EX… coming home from hospital, 1st bday, 1st plane ride, 1st time they walked, and their personal favorites!!

I love Jesus. Everything good in my life is because of His love for me.
I love my adorable children. I love that my daughters are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. I love that they have a place like Matilda Jane’s to work and have fun at! I am also grateful for friends like you and the other Matilda Jane girls being in their lives!
A couple of things I have discovered rather recently and would like to start collecting:
1. artwork and illustrations by Laura Berger … so non-Hallmark, yet so warm & funny!
2. paintings and drawings by Sophie Blackall … her “Missed Connections” project, especially.
They’re both on etsy … check them out!
I love vintage prints. The colors are so soothing.
I love to collect MJC of course but other than that I love to collect vintage quilts!
I love wine bottles old and new. I have them all lined on top of my kitchen cabinets. I love when I find one I haven’t ssen before or a really old one. But I have to say I like the new as well. One of my new faces is middle sister. I think because I have three girls and the graffiti of the three girls on the bottle reminds me of my girls and also because of all the middle sister sayings and how true they usually are! Ha
Since I don’t really collect anything (I sound real interesting), I will just say the I adore God and my family. God for His unconditional love, hope, and peace He gives and secondly my family. I have the best husband, two adorable children, and two parents whom love me so very much.
Wine bottles old and new. I have them covering the tops of my kitchen cabinets. I love finding old ones but I like new as well. My fave new is middle sister because I have three girls and the graffiti of three girls on the bottle reminds me of them and the middle sister sayings are so true!

Some of my fondest memories are of Saturday mornings with my Auction loving grandmother. She definitely influenced my love for all things antique. I have a passion for old beautiful furniture and blue willow china which are bursting from my kitchen cabinets and displayed throughout my house.
I LOVE to collect quilts. My grandmother has made many beautiful quilts over the years and I always adored watching her work with her ladies at church. She was always a little frustrated that none of her grand daughters wanted to learn the art of quilt making but is happy we cherish her work. She’s my last surviving grand parent so I definitely cherish her and all of the beauty she has created and I made sure that each bedroom in our home has a quilt rack with one of her quilts on it.
Old license plates from all over!
love to collect vintage napkins!!!!
I collect Fire King Jadite kitchenware from the 1940’s and Mccoy pottery!! I love anything green!
My mom collected Christmas things for my brother and sister and I! We each had our own. Sister- nesting dolls, brother- nutcrackers and I had snowglobes. So I started my girls the same. Doing Hummel’s for them. They get one a Christmas. Then when they get older they will enjoy!!
I love collecting art/cards/anything made by my kiddos…
It warms my heart to go back over the years and see how much they grown and to see the innocence of little words. I tell my 3 year old daughter every night “Don’t grow up….pinky promise?” and we do the little pinky promise when she says “I won’t…” AWWW..it’s the litte things that I love…..
When I got married my Mom started me a collection of Snow Babies to add to my Grandmother’s collection I bought her for Christmas every year. When I had my first child, I started her a Precious Moments collection of Christmas ornaments.
