Joe is a huge fan of Bon Jovi, as is David. We went to a concert last year and my name got added to the fan list as well. Ya, I love their music but what really had me smitten was the chemistry they had on stage. You could feel their love, respect and friendship they had. It was beautiful. I am certain any of you that have also see Bon Jovi have witnessed this. You totally feel like you know them.

Being the great singer I am not, I had to join in the Karaoke fun. Sam, Jami and I started off with my all time favorite, Beth by Kiss. As soon as Joe got wind that we were doing Karaoke he was game on. I asked him what he wanted to sing and he instantly shouted “Living on A Prayer”.
“She says: We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got
‘Cause it doesn’t make a difference if we make it or not.
We’ve got each other and that’s a lot for love -
We’ll give it a shot.
We’re half way there – Livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand and we’ll make it
I swear – livin’ on a prayer.”
So as we are singing together my mind is wandering onto my family, my friends and MJC. I’m thinking of everything I have become through MJC. I have the best girls at 435 one could ever ask for. Many of you met them, saw them at work, you witnessed it. They are fantastic. They are in it for all the right reasons. That reason being love. The love of making someone’s day, the love of building friendships at work and with customers, the love of creating the MJC family, and the love of coming to work and being part of a family. Okay, I know I may make it sound all prefect. It is not, but when you are in love with what you do, and you are doing it for the right reason, it all works out in the end. And if not, we’ve got each other and that’s what it is all about.
“We’ve got to hold on to what we’ve got . . .
We’re half way there – Livin’ on a prayer”
I love that Joe picked this song. It is so us at MJC. We have so much we want to do for you, for others, and just for personal growth. We love that you are part of it. So yeah, we are only half way there. We are a very young company and we have big dreams. We will make it, I swear…and in the stages between we will all have each other.
I love you girls!!!
PS…I’ll share some Art Fair love soon on Platinum……but in the meantime, Marcus THANK YOU for this fantastic video

I am dying you mentioned Beth by KISS! My friends sang that song to me in High School all the time, and Friday night, in Detroit, Tim McGraw sang a few lines from that song too
Loaded on my plane home. Thank you for a wonderful weekend!
I missed all the fun but I have enjoyed all the updates. And now I have that song in my head, my BFF sang that in Battle of the Bands back in high school and I went to all her rehearsals – whenever I hear it now I have it stuck in my head for days, especially the background singers, “Ooowah OOOh OOOh OOOwah”
xoxox!!!!
Take care.
WOW! What an amazing video! It truely captures the MAGIC that you so graciously created for all of us, young and old! Thank you for giving us a weekend to remember always!
Denise and family ( your boys and your 435 family) thanks again for all you do! I look forward to seeing what happens in the second half!
Oh also you have the two cutest boys ever! They are even more handsome in person!
wow. love the video. MUST go next year with the girls…and our kids.
I LOVE this post, every single thing about it. Although I was unable to attend, I was there in spirit and through the text of so many. What an amazing celebration for all that were able to attend and enjoy. You guys are unbelieveable and completly outdid yourselfs from what I have heard and seen.
I completely feel you when it comes to loving what you do. I have been and educator for the last 16 years and have been a HS Principal for the past 7 and I have the BEST job in the world. People ask me daily how do I deal with those kids and while I am somewhat offended I proudly answer, “those kiddos give me way more than I give them”. It is amazing to be in love with what you do and have the opportunity to HELP others on a daily basis.
Thank you for all that you do, thank you for all the beautiful clothing our family loves and most of all thank you for sharing your heart with all of us.
I love EVERYTHING that makes up MJ!
Looks like everyone had a great time! The video makes me very sad that I wasn’t able to make it!
I am partial to the hair band era myself. We need video of that lil’ diddy!
My 7 year old daughter loooooves Bon Jovi and it all started with Livin on a Prayer. She made him a “leather” pouch with the Hello Kitty sewing machine she just got for her birthday.
And of course has sent him mail and is waiting patiently for him to write back.
Happy for you and the 435 love!!
This sweet post made me smile. Your happiness is contagious! I can not wait to see what the future will bring for your awesome company!
Such an incredibly awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Looks like so much fun! Time and time again, you girls amaze us. Thank you!
I just loved that video and would like to RSVP at this time for Art Fair pre party 2012 for my daughter and me. She was sittng on my lap watching the video and we were in awe! I loved your blog post. I was really touched by this one, inparticular. I believe every word of it and agree whole-heartedly. This is my first year enjoying MJC and it was pretty much at the last minute when I decided to go. A few mamas asked me to shop for them, and at first when I arrived I had items for them before shopping for my daughter. I loved it. Loved thinking about these women I had never met before and hoping I was choosing the right pieces and hoping they would love them. As I left, I felt horrible that I couldn’t buy something for everyone who couldn’t share the Art Fair love. My most favorite moment, however, was coming across someone on Facebook who posted she would pay ALOT of money for a dress I had happened to have. It made me sad because you don’t want to think of people using YOUR beautiful company as a moneymaker for themselves, but let’s face it, they’re out there. Anyway, I ended up selling her the dress for what I paid and she was so thankful. You’re right, it’s about making someone’s day, someone you’ve never met, spoken to, heard of…The only thing that would’ve made the moment more special, was if I had the monetary means to just send her the dress. I wish I had enough to just buy your cuteness and give it out to those who would appreciate it most! That’s why I love your clothing. Sure, it’s adorable, unique, fun and comfy, but it’s made with love and that’s the most important thing. Thanks so much, Denise and others. Oh, I want to say that I was a little star-struck when saw all of you guys at 435. I bet I felt like you would feel if you saw Bon Jovi backstage!!!
Much love and appreciation, Carrie
Had such a great time at 435. The hospitality was outstanding! The clothes at the art fair were adorable. Thank you Denise, David and the 435 crew for all of your hard work to make such a fun weekend! My girls had a blast at the pre-party. They loved going through all of the pretties from the Art Fair-unfortunately there were a few things that didn’t make their cut (although they made mine!) So if anyone is interested in a few 4 or 6 items. Just message me- [email protected]. I only want my cost- no markups! These beauties need to find a good home.
How do we RSVP for the parties next year? Am I too early? So sad to have missed it. In am pregnant, plus just a lot of stuff hitting our family hard this summer. I am trusting God that next summer will be better and I will be there! I can’t wait!
I <3 Bon Jovi and so do my 2 kids! They are 7 and 4 and have been blasting the lyrics to Living on a Prayer for over a year now! They have very unique tastes in music, but some of their other faves are Bob Marley(Three Little Birds), Guns N Roses (Welcome to the Jungle) and Cracker (Euro Trash Girl? Don't know where this comes from or what it says about me as a parent. My personal favorite Cracker has always been Mr. Wrong).
Oh my goodness what a great blog entry and what a great video…..thought of saying more but your blog just says so so so much about you and David and everyone at Matilda Jane Clothing. Wishing you many many more years of success.
Another Bon Jovi lover – sad I didn’t get to witness your rendition in person, but have loved reading about it all today! Sounds like a huge success – congrats to you all!
