Candid Keepers #374

I absolutely love getting to know each and every one of these special ladies.

There is no doubt in my mind that every last one of them is

beautifully unique, no matter what their differences may be.

Over the past week I learned more than I have in two years about who I am

and who I want to be.  But most importantly I was reminded to love ALL others, no matter what.

Matilda Jane Trunk Keepers are an extraordinary breed of class and sisterhood that continually inspire those around them to do better and

BE BETTER.

This week’s little lady is one of the finest.

Introducing:

Lisa Lindstrom of Buffalo, NY

Most Valued Form of Character:

Honesty and Trust

Q:  Please tell us a bit about yourself.  Where are you from and where are you now?

A:  I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and that is where we still are. Raising my kids with their family near by is really important to me and we are lucky enough to be able to do so.

Q:  How did you meet and fall in love with your husband?

A:  I met my husband when I was 18 years old at the beach through a mutual friend. We were young, and we had a lot of fun together. I knew I couldn’t live without him when he left for Chiropractic College; which was 2 hours away from home. Distance really does make the heart grow fonder! We dated through college, and began the journey of married life and parent hood shortly after.

Q:  What about those gorgeous babies???  Give us an idea of who they are.

A:  I’ll try to keep it short but that is hard to do, I could probably write a book about them… William Michael is 8 years old.  You would never know it now by looking at him, but he was a preemie, born 2 months early at 2lbs 14oz. He had a rough start, but that makes him the strong person that he is today.  He is mature, loyal, and honest.  He is creative, smart and very loving. (He still gives us kisses in front of his friends and asks to be snuggled at night)  Andrew Joseph is 4 years old. Looks like me, acts like Jeremy… (He’s lucky he’s cute) Andrew is strong-willed, stubborn and smart!  He loves sports; he wants to play every single sport all day everyday! He is HILLARIOUS!

My sweet Annabella Grace, is my 1 ½ year old cutie. Her big blue eyes and curly blonde hair makes my heart just melt. She is such a good

baby. She eats well, sleeps well and loves to play.

Q:  What did you do in your previous life?  Pre-Matilda Jane?

A:  I own and run, and still do, a Hair Salon. Growing up my grandfather was a barber and my grandmother was a hairdresser, they worked together side by side for over 50 years. So I carried on the family tradition and my sister and I work together in a salon that I opened 8 years ago.

Q:  What is your Matilda Jane story?  What made you become a Trunk Keeper?

A:  Well, my friend Brandy introduced me to Matilda Jane. We have been friends since our first babies were born. She had 3 beautiful daughters and I had my 2 beautiful boys. Every time we got together with the kids she would have her girls dressed in Matilda Jane. I would tell her “I want one of those”. (meaning a girl with the dress and all). SO.. God gave me Annabella and Denise gave me Matilda Jane.

Q:  What is something that you are still learning?  A lifetime journey, if you will.

A:  I am still learning how to be a parent. I thought I knew what I was doing when I had William, until I had Andrew and Annabella.  Each child is so different from each other. What may have worked with one didn’t work with the other with many different aspects. Each child needs me in a different way. As they grow, they change and new parenting challenges arise.   I am learning to be a better MOM everyday. That is my lifetime journey.

Q:  What is your greatest fear?

A:  This is not my greatest fear but it is a fear.  I have a fear of heights. I cannot ride the ferris-wheel at the amusement park. No way!

My greatest fear is sickness for either my family or children.

Q:  What is your wildest dream?

A:  My dream is to own an organic co-op farm. It is so important to be healthy. I would love to share that knowledge with people and share the ability to obtain a healthy living lifestyle.

Q:  If you could spend the day with anyone famous (deceased or alive), who would that be?  Why?

A:  I really had to think about this one!! If I were to spend a day that was truly meaningful and spiritually enlightening, it would have to be Jesus. He is my guy. Why? He is the only one with the answers to all my questions.

Q:  What do you value more?  Possessions or travel?

A:  Travel, The world is a beautiful place.

Q:  What is something you are saving up for?

A:  The family farm.

Q:  What are your favorite blogs or websites?

A:  Pinterest, is one. I love finding new ideas for hairstyles, party planning, and home décor.  The other is the Matilda Jane blog. That is what pulled me into Matilda Jane. (Not just the adorable clothes). I think it is amazing all the things this company accomplishes, I love reading the stories.  Reading the blog made me want to be a part of this team.

Q:  If you weren’t a Trunk Keeper, what you would you like to be doing?

A:  Probably remodel my house or the salon again. I write again because I love changing things up. I get bored at looking at the same things over a period of time. I don’t want my life to be monotonous.

Q:  Who inspires you in all things LIFE?

A:  My husband.  You can count on him for ANYTHING! He is the smartest man I know. He makes me and the kids laugh. He loves and cherishes god. Most of all he loves his family.

Q:  If given the opportunity to have the day to yourself, how would you spend it?

A:  At the spa getting pampered!

Q:  What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery?

A:  The first thing we would do, is buy brand new state of the art equipment such as a new incubator and have my son William wheel it into the NICU at Sister’s Hospital and say Thank You!

Q:  What talent would you most like to have?

A:  I would like to be an Olympic gymnast. I think they are just amazing!

Q:  Lastly, in the spirit of Heart~Soul~Pride, what in your opinion is the most important form of character?

A:  Honesty and Trust. The foundation of a relationship.
