Goofy, loveable BUNS

Hi everyone- it’s Chris. Many of you may not know who I am here at MJC because I am more behind the scenes. I work in operations with the girls packin’, pullin’, and shippin’. It’s a crazy place to be, but it’s where I seem to thrive!

Here’s a quick bio about myself- I graduated from Hillsdale College, directed a pre-school program for special needs children and families in Michigan, and eventually moved back home to Fort Wayne to get into my parent’s family Dairy Queen business with my husband. We decided to settle into a home on the south side of Fort Wayne in Southwood Park. And guess who my neighbor was??!!……..Missy.

Missy (A.K.A Denise DeMarchis) is a name I came up with because I never call my close friends by their given name. In college I started calling myself BUNS (a shortened version of my maiden name Longbons) as well as my close friends and sorority sisters- Brownie, Weenie, Emma, and Lutzer/Pasta. Now these girls are my lifeline. They have supported me through thick and thin. When my husband and I decided to change our career paths, moving back to the Fort seemed exciting but scary at the same time because we had family to lean on, but no friends.

Missy was the first friend I met when we moved into ‘the hood’ as I like to call it. I heard rumors later on that she was spying on us because we had pulled the U-Haul truck directly up to the front door which blocked her view. So to her dismay, she couldn’t see if our furniture was cute or not- ha! The next day she and Deeter (David, told you EVERYBODY’S got a nick name!) came over to introduce themselves. I was putting pots and pans away, and in walks Miss cuteness with pink hair and freckles. I don’t what it was, but we connected. She even told me a secret that she was expecting their first baby (Joe A.K.A Bear/Cub/Cuppie/Lil’ Bird) and not to say anything because she was just a few weeks along…

…Ten years later I still feel like she’s telling me those special secrets.

Friends and close relationships are hard to come by but we’ve managed to work through it all!

….Art Fairs, painting excursions, road trips, crying babies and chipped teeth, and Oh that MJC…

Now here’s a tribute to great BUNS! Kiara (Kiki/Red) and Andrea (luver of Cheezits) will have to fill you in on this new do that’ve been sporting at work- so cute!

Luv,

Chris A.K.A. Buns

Hi Chris,
I remember meeting you at the Plymouth Art Fair (the last time MJC was there). You helped me find a skirt, then we drank lemonaid. Good to see your picture and know you’re still part of MJC. :)

I felt as if I kept coming up in your blog. I live in Michigan, I know where Hillsdale College is. My name is Melissa, of course I have been called Missy most of my life. I have worked in preschools and with special needs kids. And to top it all off I saw the name Emma, my youngest little peanut!

Thanks for putting a smile on my face today
Missy

Hey Miss Chris! Sweet post, gorgeous images and lots of smiles. I don’t think I knew you called Denise, Missy, that is what I call her. Maybe I heard you use it and stole it without realizing. She is a Missy though, for sure.
Thanks for sharing!
Take good care,
Rhonda
