Today is a special day around here- it is Ann’s 50th birthday! Well, her birthday isn’t actually until tomorrow, but since we don’t spend our weekends together here on the MJC campus we declared today Ann’s Official Birthday Day. We went out for pizza at Pint & Slice (the best pizza EVER!) per Ann’s request and surprised her with a chorus of Happy Birthday in the midst of all of the other diners- she loved that, believe me! But what she didn’t know about was the surprise we had planned for her upon our arrival back at 435. Chris, Amber, and Renae stayed behind to decorate Ann’s table, and the rest of us booked it back to the warehouse to get there before Ann so that we could surprise her when she walked in. We even had a pinata full of candy!
We sure do love our Ann!! She always has a smile on her face, and I’ve heard her say before that her goal everyday is to make at least one person laugh- which she definitely does!! Happy Birthday, Ann!!!

I get the best bday gift every year…our local homemade ice cream store makes an unbelieveable ice cream cake and there’s nothing better than blowing out the candles with my 2 babies on my lap and then of course, digging in

On my birthday, my boyfriend’s (now husband) best friend, Chris was going to get married, and my boyfriend was the best man. a couple days before the big day, my boyfriend, Rick and Chris told the bride to be, that they were going to go pick up their Tux. The bride to be, Michelle and I went to the St Louis Arch in Missouri, to test out photos for the big day. When Michelle and I arrived at the Arch, she asked me to stand in the center of the Arch so she can figure out how she wants the photo taken. As she was positioning her camera, I happened to turn around. I see someone that looks like Rick and Chris. But I told myself it can’t be because they are at the Tux shop. As they got closer I realized it was in fact Rick and Chris. Rick was in a nice outfit, and I was very confused. As he got closer, he told me that Chris and michelle felt bad that they were going to get married on my 21st birthday and that they wanted to take me out to a surprise dinner. I was surprised and very happy. Then Rick took out a beautiful necklace and told me that it was my birthday present. I was even more excited. Then the next second, Rick knelt down and proposed to me! It was definitely an amazing birthday present anybody can ask for. Now he is my husband of 5 years and we have a beautiful little girl!
My best birthday present ever was from my husband. We have three little kids, so time to ourselves doesn’t happen often. He gave me a night away for the two of us….dinner, drinks, adult conversation and uninterrupted sleep can really make a girl feel human again

Happy Birthday Anne! What a special group of girls you are surrounded by!! My own special girl gave me the best birthday present! When my daughter Olivia was 5yrs old, she created the best “coupon book” ever! There were coupons I could redeem for: a free makeover, hairdo, room cleaning (her own room..ha!), and breakfast in bed. It is so cute I still have some left because I don’t want them to get ruined if I turn them in. It is sealed in my memory as the best Birthday gift ever, but I want to keep the actual gift forever too. Love my Livie!!
This is kinda aging me but I had my teen and pre-teen years back in the 80′s. I think I was about 13 years old and all I wanted was a huge ghetto blaster (one of those super large boomboxs with the cassette player and radio, didn’t have CD’s then, lol), well, my mom and dad surprised me with one and I remember being overjoyed with glee. I can still remember listening to Casey Kasim do the top 20 countdown on the radio and trying to guess who might have the #1 song in the nation. Those were the good ol’days. Life seemed simpler then.

And the best birthday gift I ever received was in First Grade—-the Strawberry Shortcake blowing kisses baby doll. You squeezed her tummy and she blew strawberry scented kisses at you. Sheer heaven!
This may be sad but the best birthday present I ever got was a trampoline when I was 14. I loved it so much, well love. I still have it and me and my 3 year old play on it all the time. She loves it as much as I did and that makes me happy!

I don’t have a sentimental mushy story behind a gift, but one year my husband gave me a box full of rice! Yes, he gave me 20 pounds of rice for my birthday! I was shocked and, to say the least, not thrilled. But, as I took the bags out of the massive box I began to find gift certificates between bags. Turns out my gift wasn’t the rice but gift certificates to the mall to buy an entire new wardrobe…FUN!!!!
On my 40th when my best friend in the whole wide world surprised me at 11:00pm after driving with her husband and 2 kids 7+hrs….she had sent a gift, called in the morning and even in the afternoon and I never ever knew she was planning this I celebrated with a fun party…cleaned up got my pjs on and then heard the doorbell ring…I will never forget it…we stayed up all night chatting like the good old days
Man, I have had so many birthdays now its hard to choose! One birthday that sticks out in my mind was when I turned 19. My then boyfriend (who is now my husband) gave me this small rectangular box. I thought, “Wow, I can’t believe I am getting jewelry!” He is not the jewelry buying type. I opened the box and found a matchbox car. I was disappointed and confused. He could tell because he immediately offered up an explanation. He said,”Its a Jaguar.” That is my dream car. (The older body style from the 80′s.) It ended up being very thoughtful and memorable!
My birthday is July 27. One of my best friends growing up gave me some cadbury creme eggs, which required her to keep them in a freezer for over 3 months! She knew they were my all time favorite candy.
Best birthday present ever. A weekend at The Beinvillehouse in the French Quarter of New Orleans for my 30th birthday, just the hubby and I. Now we have 2 kids and I can’t remember what any of my presents have been since they have arrived!

Best birthday present… boy, I’m kinda old, which means lots of fabulous presents, lol. I would have to say my first DSLR camera that my hubby surprised me with. I really had no clue… I had been pondering over buying one for months, but just could NOT spend money on myself. That camera started a passion for photography… so I would say it qualifies as one of the best presents ever!!

My best birthday pressie ever was this year! My little girl Kelcee who is 5 had been asking us for change and dollars since Christmas. I never thought anything of it just thought she was saving and saving she was. Apparently she had saw a commercial on TV for a blooming rose from hallmark that says Love You Lots. The hubs asked her what she was saving for and she said “I want to buy my mommy this rose on tv for her Birthday” she said she deserves it she is the best mommy! So of course he kept giving her more and more dollars lol! Well in February he took her and she bought me that rose. He said he would buy it and she said no she wanted to buy it for me! It melted my heart that she is so selfless and sweet that she did that for me! I still get into tear telling this story and the rose makes me happy every day and will forever! Love it and love her! i had the best birthday last year. a surprise birthday brunch with family. everyone was so happy, eating, drinking coffee and mimosas. the kiddos were laughing and dancing. it was one of those moments where you look around and think “this is what happiness is.”
When I turned 7 I wanted a “wedding cake” for my party. I still remember the beautiful tiered cake! It made me feel like a princess…just like MJC does for sweet seven year olds today.

One of my favorite birthdays was a couple years ago when my birthday fell on Easter Sunday and my family all came to my house and had Easter lunch/birthday lunch all together! Super fun to celebrate both things at the same time!

My favorite present ever was on my 16th birthday. It was an Alpine “deck” or stereo (vintage terms, I know) for the very old, used to be my sister’s hand-me-down car I got!
My mom always got us the best presents. My all time favorite was a simple rubbermaid tub that she decorated and put my name on and FILLED with all kinds of fun dress up clothes that she found at random thrift shops.
If Denise and Sam are making her something special I bet it’s going to be good! I think one of the neatest birthday gifts I ever got was a second hand pair of ice skates when I was 10. I was in heaven even though they were like 5 sizes too big:) I just thought they were sooo cool!

Hands down…my sewing machine when I was 8 years old. It’s just a little rinky-dink one, but it brings back so many memories of my grandma and my mom teaching me how to sew. It’s still a blowin’ and a goin’ to this day. My dd is only 3 months but I know it will be a special memory for her one day when I teach her how to sew too!

My family knew I wanted my son’s nursery decorated before he was born. So my whole big family came over to help decorate it! It was the thoughtfulness that was so meaningful to me.

The best birthday present I ever had was actually a two-for-one. The first and most important part of the gift is my second daughter, Emory. I had her one day before my own birthday (she was and still is a beautiful reminder of how wonderful my life is).

My birthday is on Christmas, so I always feel a little cheated, but my mom did a great job decorating over the table with birthday streamers and a birthday cake every year. After I got married, it took me a while to train my hubby that he has to make a big deal out of it being my birthday, too, with just one simple request- a birthday cake to share with family. Well, this birthday he not only got me my favorite cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory, he got some birthday hats for us to wear. Our 2 year old daughter loves birthday hats! It was so cute seeing her excited to wear a birthday hat on Christmas

One of the best birthday presents that I can remember was when I was younger and got a trampoline! LOVED IT! I could have stayed on it 24/7! I loved all that gymnastics and cheerleading kinda stuff so a trampoline was my cup of tea.

My best birthday present was a cruise that my husband and I went on to celebrate my turning 30. It was our second cruise and wasn’t a suprise since I had to arrange vacation time at work. However, we both love cruises and had the best time. Such a great way to spend time with the ones you love….no cooking, cleaning, driving….just fun and sun!!

The best birthday present I ever received came from a good friend of mine who, while I was away on vacation, re-decorated my bedroom for me. She ripped up the carpeting, brought in a painter, bought curtains, and all accessories for my room. It was like something you’d see on HGTV! It was such a huge surprise, and I don’t think I will ever forget it.
When my grandbaby was born I wanted to make her a baby quilt. I sold my sewing machine after my 1st husband died in ’99 because we were low on money. My current husband surprised me with a sewing machine for my birthday in 2007 a few months after my grandbaby was born and I made her a very special quilt. That was most definitely the best birthday present I ever received–both getting the sewing machine and seeing my grandbaby snuggle with her quilt I made her.
The first year my husband and I were dating on my birthday, he built me a bookshelf and put my monogram on it [like all southern women, I would monogram anything that sits still long enough
]. Then he bought all of my favorite author’s books in hardback for me. I still tell him he’ll never top that gift – books are definitely the way to my heart!

Pregnant with our first child, my husband planned the biggest and best surprise party (not really like him) and while I was being distracted the party was being planned with the girls while the guys put all the nursery together start to finish! The best birthday present I’ve ever gotten was the entire set of Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I was either 10 or 11 but I remember the very second I started ripping open the paper and realizing what was inside. I still have the set and my eldest daughter has read them already and I’m keeping them for my youngest daughter and eventually my grandchildren.

My best birthday present ever would have to be the hand embellished converse my sister made me. They are purple with clear swarovski crystals ALL over the toes. She had made a brown and pink pair for my daughter’s 2nd birthday and I loved them so much that I jokingly told her she should make me a pair. SHE DID! On my birthday almost 3 years ago, I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd child. As someone who struggled with infertility and miscarriage, I never thought I would be able to get pregnant without fertility drugs, much less without even trying! My sweet little “surprise” is now 2, and is such a blessing to my life. I’m so thankful for that wonderful birthday present, Hadley:)

In my family, my grandmother made everyone a quilt when you got married. I remember really wanting one and couldn’t wait to get married so I could have one of her handmade quilts. The best birthday I have had was just last month when the kids found a roll of old wrapping paper and they snuck in the other room and wrapped up tons of goodies all by their self to give to me… I had a half bottle of lotion, a toy dinosaur, and used lip gloss…and a few pennies and dimes…They were so sweet and it meant so much to me that they thought of me and gave me all there treasures… It was AWESOME,…:)

Um… Let’s see.. Best birthday present… I was in graduate school, stressed beyond belief, and hopelessly in love with a boy who lived 3 hours from me. Between studying my tail off and driving the roads on weekends to see my fella… this girl didn’t have much time to herself. So,for my 24th b-day, my man,(now my hubby) decided to surprise me with impromptu plane tickets to Jackson Hole, WY for a long weekend trip of hiking, backpacking, relaxing and wandering. I was SO excited!!! Little did I know I’d be getting a ring on that trip too and married 10 months later! Wonderful birthday surprise indeed

Last year I got a Build-a-Bear bunny dressed as a teacher from my five year old twins. My mom tried to talk them into something a bit more practical, but they were determined! I love that they made it especially for me.
For my 10th birthday my parents got me a family season pass to Sea World. It was amazing. At 10 I was destined to become a marine biologist. It was a big dream and my parents supported me.
I never became a marine biologist, but I always knew I had my parents support for my future endeavors. That was the best gift ever!

Happy Birthday ANN!! The best birthday suprise I ever recieved was my engagement ring from my now husband (of almost eleven years)!! We had just started dating May 21st, 2000 we were (still are) madly in love from the word GO…my birthday is July 30th. Yes, two months into the relationship he asked me to marry him! I said yes & we were married May 27, 2001! Three kids, a dog, a cat & several career moves were still together!
The best birthday present I ever received was when my husband took me to see Celine Dion in her second to final concert in Las vegas for my birthday. It was amazing!

The cupcake tank dress!!! The first release was on my birthday and my wonderful husband told me not to come home without something for myself. So nice to have a guilt-free shopping splurge. I got to wear my dress to my daughter’s first birthday a few weeks ago, which just made it all the more special.
My daughter was and still is the best birthday present ever! She was born in Russia, and “officially” became our daughter the day after my birthday. One birthday I will never forget!
My boyfriend at the time (now my husband) wanted to give me a very special gift. It was one of those birthday’s with a zero at the end, so a big birthday. He kept asking me what I wanted and I could not think of a respectable gift, I just really wanted to take a big trip….to Paris. Of course we could not afford Paris so he brought Paris to me. He decorated my house (while I was away) in a Parisian theme, he photoshoped the two of us onto Paris landmarks, and the gifts he bought on his own had a Parisian hint to them. So sweet. It was not the gifts I loved, it was the fact that he went out of his way to make it special, to make me feel special.
The best present I ever received was a ring from my grandmother.It is a simple round band. It was a ring my grandfather had given her during their early years of marriage. She had suffered through the Korean war (bombed and disfigured), immigrated to the U.S.(with barely anything) and helped my parents live the American dream to give their future generations a future. I look at the ring with all of its’ scratches and dents and imagine all the struggles she and my grandfather went through. That ring shows my past, present and future and I will always treasure it.
Hands down…my Sweet 16 Red Acura. My parents had convinced me I wouldn’t get a car, and then there it was adorned with a Big Bow and a cassette of “Lil Darlin” playing on the radio (my Dad’s nickname for me).

I recently turned the big 40!!! My husband and daughter were taking me out to dinner the evening of my birthday when I heard the DJ on the radio giving away a Limo for the following night for anyone that had a birthday in January and 25 of their friends. I immediately called the radio station and won!!! It was a totally spontaneous thing. I had an absolute blast hanging out with my friends. It was a birthday that I will never forget!
Best birthday present ever : After giving birth to my daughter last June, I had the typical sleepless nights, and early AM feedings/changes etc. On my Birthday in August my 2 month old slept 12 hrs straight through the night…. and she’s been doing it ever since!! Talk about a happy momma. Maybe not an “intentional” gift, but a much appreciated one from above all the same. 1 year when I was a little girl my parents gave me an American doll. My mom had handmade some clothes for her and my dad had made a bed. Oh! And my mom also made sheets/bedding for the bed…that was the greatest gift ever!!

My B day is in June. My sister is coming for a week to take care of my 3 darlings so I can go somewhere, anywhere! This is priceless!
I have to say the birth of my third son. My husband was deployed my whole pregnancy and missed the birth and the first few months afterwards. I was emotionally drained and having Chase was the boost that I needed to make it the next few months until my hubby got back home.
The best birthday present that I have ever received was a puppy when I was in 2nd grade. Such a great surprise and a best buddy while I was growing up. Sometimes I still miss my little Parker!
The best present I ever got was a 37 hour long birthday! My husband had a business trip to Japan and so it would have been really silly not to come along since everything was paid for aside from my airfare. We were in one of the most beutiful places on earth for 10 days. We flew home on my birthday, March 12th (yes-Monday really is my birthday-I will be 42). Because of the time difference, I ended up having a 37 hour long birthday! THAT WAS THE BEST EVER.

My daddy used to travel a lot when I was a small child. On my 4th birthday, he came home from a trip with my birthday gift…a baby doll with a “real” diaper bag and real diapers. I was beside myself. I have the cutest picture of myself with my new baby and diaper bag, my face looks like it could explode with excitement! I don’t know if it was so special because of the baby doll and real diapers or because my daddy brought it to me but it is a birthday I will never forget!

The best birthday present that I have received was in 2003. I LOVE football!!! My favorite player was Brett Farve. My favorite football coach was John Grudden. I was so surprised to get to go to Tampa Bay to see both in person. The Green Bay Packers were on the road playing in Tampa against the Buccaneers. Not to mention that both of the guys are just totally HOT!!!
The best gift I received was a one week vacay to puerto Vallarta with my hubby.. Very much needed since we had our third child 12 months earlier and thought there would be no break in sight for a lot longer!:)
My husband surprised me with a scavenger hunt with notes of where to go…pedicure, anthropologie, dinner, and hotel! He even set up the babysitter for the whole thing!

Best birthday present EVER was my fabulous SILVER F TROMBONE on my 18th birthday. My dad had been out of a job for 2 years and was only doing odd electrical jobs here and there – my mom was a homemaker, so my family did not have a lot of extra money to go around. I would have been thrilled with just cake and ice cream, but to my surprise, my dad brought out the large case and set it in front of me. I just cried and cried – could not believe or imagine what my parents had sacrificed to get me this amazing and unexpected gift. To this day, I cannot stop the tears from flowing when I think about my parents’ love for me. And truly, their unconditional love has always and will always be a treasured gift to carry in my heart…
When I was in Middle School I wanted a phone for my bedroom. I could have bought one myself. After all I was a babysitting machine but my Dad wouldn’t let me get one. I asked every day. Finally my birthday arrived and there was a box the size of a phone! But to my disappointment, when I opened it is was a camera. I still remember putting on my fake smile so I wouldn’t hurt his feelings. To my surprise, I used that old film camera all the time. High school, college, grad. school even on our honeymoon. They were not great pictures that I could blowup and put on the wall but they were the story of my coming of age. An amazing gift.
When I turned 18 my very best friend (VBFF) who lived far away surprised me with a visit. I was tricked into going to the airport and there she was. I cried, I was so excited. She is still my VBFF today!
For my 16th birthday my parents decided to take me to Toronto to see The Phantom of the Opera! It was the best birthday ever! We had such a nice time, went out to nice restaurants and just walked the city and spent a few days in the area! A birthday i will never forget!

Happy Birthday, Ann! I actually have two best birthday’s ever. One was as a teenager and the other as an adult. As a teenager I played club volleyball so we were traveling every weekend it seemed. My mom snuck a cake onto the airplane and the entire plain sang happy birthday to me. I was so shocked and turned red, like any teenager would. this past birthday, i went to my front door about 5pm and my dad was standing there will a bouquet of flowers and wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday…….the kicker, is my dad lives over 300 miles away…he got a flight up here just to take me to dinner and then flew back!!!! super duper surprise!!! i had NO idea he was coming. DEFINITELY THE MOST MEMORABLE B-DAY EVER!!!! now, that made this girl feel special.

Hmmmmmmn, I would have to say that one of my favorite birthday gifts was a total surprise that my hubby sent me. We were broke on my birthday & he had been working out of town a lot, so we weren’t able to really celebrate, so about a month later, I got a little package in the mail with a sweet card & three pandora charms for my bracelet, which I adore! Considering that my husband is typically not the most thoughtful , it was a total surprise that I will never forget!

This is a tough question….I can think of many b-day gifts that I’ve loved over the years. I think my very favorite has to be a Quiz Kid toy(basically an owl shaped calculator–the eyes would turn green or red if you answered correctly)I received when I was around 10. I LOVED that thing and my mom still claims to have it in storage somewhere. I need to go dig it out!!
I was proposed to on my Birthday. THAT gift will never be topped. Although last year my daughter came close when she slept through the night for the first time on my birthday. That was such a great gift too.

Happy Birthday Ann! The best present I ever received for my birthday was a surprise 50th birthday party given by my 3 young adult children. The party was actually for my husband and I since our birthdays are 1 month apart and we are the same age! We were bickering about something on our way to the party and as I was walking in I was saying to him “well your not the sharpest tool in the shed!” turned around and everyone said “SURPRISE”! Well it turned about to be a wonderful evening with family and old friends!

Happy Birthday Ann! As for my best birthday present…I would have to say, a surprise party. We live away from all family, and for my 30th birthday my husband managed to get my whole family there and 2 of my best friends, without me ever knowing. Him keeping the secret was shocking in itself. He sent me off shopping and when I came home, I walked in to a perfectly clean house decorated for a party, lots of food, and over 30 guests. I was sooo surprised.
Happy Birthday Ann! The most memorable gift I ever received was a little Aquamarine Birthstone ring from my Mama and Daddy when I was five years old. The coolest thing about this gift was giving it to my little girl last month when she turned 5 years old. She got lots of gifts that day but I could see that she understood how special that ring was to me and now her.

My grandmothers gold band ring – the weird part was I wanted it!!! I never mentioned it because my dad is one of 12, 8 girls and 4boys, not to mention all the grand kids that brings… (So the odds of me ever getting it was slim so why even bring it up.) it was my 21st birthday and my grandmother was dying of cancer (she passed the morning after my birthday. Unbeknown to me, she gave the ring to my mom, my mom thought it would be better for me to have, less friction between the sisters. Needless to say I was very happy to have something that could could carry with me and everyday look at my hand and think of her. It’s been over 10years now……boy do I miss that women!!!!
Well the best gift ever…..the best suprise…it was when we were waiting for the referral from India…a call ….your daughter.So my friend picks me up and first takes me for a suprise pedicure…then a suprise lunch and tea at a teahouse.I was so excited…suprised and was so grateful….then she said….wait a minute…..so I sit there while she goes to do whatever. Then all of a sudden here she comes with a huge gift basket with a blanket that had my daughters name on it….a tea set for Maiya…..a sleeper for Maiya…and lots other things. I just started crying and so did she. It was a perfect birthday suprise from a wonderful friend. Turns out.her and my daughter have the same.birthday May 15th.

I am a Valentine’s Day baby and every year my mom made me a special pink heart shaped spice cake. The birthday after my mom died my little sister surprised me by making my special cake for me and she made it for me every year until I moved to Michigan with my husband and new baby. The first birthday in Michigan my husband surprised me by making me the cake. He got the recipe from my sister and cake pans from our new neighbors
. My oldest son is 13 and my husband still makes my pink heart shaped cake for me every year. That simple cake makes me happy every year 
I am a single mom and mainly my birhtdays are just like any other day but I remember last year when my daughter made me a card and wrote Mommy on it by herself and left it next to me when I woke up. I still have that card in the stand by my bed and smile everytime I see it.

I got engaged on my birthday (14 years ago)- even though my dh “thought” it was after midnight and was the following day! (Psst–it wasn’t- it was a good two hours before midnight struck)…we were in St. Augustine FL and had just gotten off a freezing cold buggy ride (it was December)….when he got down on a bended knee and proposed! (Of course I said yes)! We have been together since sophomore year in college (22 years)- and married for almost 13 years…and two kiddos later~
The best birthday present that I have received was last year from my husband. I love Alice in Wonderland and my husband took me out for dinner and we say the Movie with Johnny Depp swoon lol and he gave me the limited edition swarovski crstyal necklace that Alice recives in the movie from her mother. The gift and the day was great but the fact that my husband knew and went out of his way to find the necklace was truley the best gift!
I know this may sound odd but my favorite bday presant was just this past year when I got to spend some of the day by myself. My Darling husband took all the kiddos out of the house and I just got to relax and watch Grey’s Anatomy….it’s just the small things for me I don’t need a great big gift or a fancy night out……the love my family gave me that day was gift I needed..

My best birthday present ever came on my 44th birthday when my husband and 2 yr. old daughter served me breakfast in bed. Later that day I heard/received the bestand most memorable part of my birthday gift . . . my daughter brought me my birthday cake with candles and said to me in her adorable little voice, “Happy Birthday Mommy . . . I love you . . . You are the best Mommy ever!” This made my heart smile and melt. To me this is hands down the best gift I have ever received!

The best birthday present I’ve had was for my 30th and was a vacation to the beach at Sandestin, FL. My mom came along to babysit and we had the BEST week – eating, shopping, and playing in the water!
I have had a lot of good birthday presents over the years, but the best birthday present I have ever received is the whale shaped ice scream scooper my husband gave me. We were just starting out on our own and we didn’t have a lot of money to spend on gifts. He felt so ashamed he couldn’t get me something more. I told him the gift was perfect, I like whales and ice cream is a favorite treat. Every time I use it, it puts a smile on my face.
Hands down it was five years ago. My little girl was born 5 weeks early and exactly 10 days before my birthday. She was healthy and able to come home after just 3 days. Best birthday present ever! Yesterday was her 5th birthday. Love that little pumpkin of mine!

My husband made my 30th birthday so special! I was heavily pregnant at the time and a little emotional about turning 30. He took me out for fondue (one of my favorites), surprised me with a David Yurmin ring and topped it off with one of the most relaxing foot massages ever. The best birthday gift i ever received was not actually planned, well sorta. I was traveling with my husband from our home here in Texas to a race convention in Indianapolis. It ended up snowing the majority of the time we were there which we are not used to. My husband took me to dinner at PF Changs (one of my faves) and then we took a ride in a horse drawn carriage. Looking at a huge Christmas tree through the biggest snow flakes I’ve ever seen, snuggling with the love of my life and freezing my hiney off, was the most amazing and memorable birthday nights I could have ever asked for! It wasn’t a tangible gift but it is definetly my fairy tale and will be in my heart forever!
The best birthday present I ever received was my first pair of old school 1980 roller skates when I was 6…they were (still are white with blue stripes and blue wheels). I had so many wonderful memories skating at the rink and in my best friends basement for many many miles! One of my 7 year old twins was invited to a roller skating birthday party for the first time a couple of months ago…my mom sent me my skates for her to wear and they were perfect! Of my three girls, she is the one who looks like me…and seeing her learn how to skate for the first time in my old skates was priceless. I sent a picture to my best friend growing up and it brought back all those wonderful times. I was just excited she wasn’t embarrassed to wear them when everyone else was learning on inline skates!

Its one of those Hallmark recordable books, but my grandmother gave it to her and she “reads” in constantly – she loves hearing her Great Grammy before bed. My Grammy has no idea how much that book means to me, but i know she will not be here forever, but having that book, my kids will always have her read them their bedtime story. It makes me so happy. It’s a present I will always cherish.

Silly, but the most memorable is a card my son gave me saying my present was a funny dance with a picture of what he was going to do. He was six. I still have the card on my corkboard five years later.

On my 30th birthday after trying to conceive for 7 years, I found out I was pregnant. It was…….awesome….. x100.
On my 30th, I was pregnant with my first child and my hubby and I had a lovely weekend getaway in Arizonia. I was pleasantly surprised when we returned to our hotel room after a yummy dinner to find chocolate dipped strawberries and some sparkling apple cider wait for me. It was all about the moment of feeling special, loved and blessed. I am smiling right now as I relive it.
The best birthday present I ever received was given to me last weekend! My husband decided at 10am on Friday that we would be blazing off to see Guns and Roses in Orlando the next day. On a total whim (which is almost impossible with 4 kids 8 and under), we managed to get concert tickets, stand-by plane tickets, and get our parents to babysit (cause it takes more than one sitter for our crew!). We left with the clothes on our backs, hung out in Orlando for the day, stood 8 feet from Axl for an absolutely amazing 3 hour performance, and headed home…. 36 hours… no baggage… no hotel room… no sleep! It was a birthday that actually made me feel YOUNGER and I’m still reeling from it! Nothing better than being spontaneous to make you feel like you’re more than a frumpy momma in a two day old pony tail!
Happy Birthday! Best birthday memory was when I was 8, a birthday movie theatre party at home. Mom gave each guest a ticket and bag of change as they arrived. There was a refreshment station with all the movie theatre goodies and fun times with friends. Classmates & friends talked about this party for years! Great memory. 80′s so times have changed:)

For my 40th, I insisted to my hubby not to throw me a party. Not my thing. He listened?! He got me something he knew i would like…..He got me an iPad. I have used it every day since (1 1/2 years). Love it. Much more my thing, shopping, reading, gaming and chatting.
My best birthday was last year for my 30th. my husband gave me a big surprise party and even arranged for several of my college friends from out of town to be there to surprise me. the fact that he went to all the trouble to do all of that for me all while keeping it a secret was very touching!
Happy birthday ann:) when I was 16 my parents surprised me with a car. It was parked next door and since they had told me we were waiting to buy a car til later, I had nooo idea!! Talk about a total surprise!! Happy tears!:) good times:)
When I was younger, I always wanted to get 16 white roses on my 16th birthday. I didn’t think anyone really knew or remembered, but my first boyfriend and love did and they were delivered to my house! I was so happy and excited!
For my 30th birthday my husband threw me a surprise party with all my friends and even had a special cake made by the lady that made our wedding cake. Plus he lined up child care for the night! The BEST birthday ever!
My birthday was march 8 and my husband just gave me the best trail/mountain bike! I’m 45 now and have 5 and 7 year old children. It the best present because it will keep me active, healthily and young for my kids! Happy Borthday Ann!
I am also a March birthday (the 14th) and the best gift I ever received was a handmade card with my daughters hand prints as the flowers with a cute little poem inside that said:

My oldest daughter was born on my 31st birthday (which also happens to be my golden birthday). I tell her she was my best birthday gift ever!
Happy Birthday Ann! A “few” years ago my husband surprised me for my 30th bday with a Surprise party! I never thought in a million years he would put something like that together for me much less pull off the surprise! That was my best gift, his caring thoughtful gesture:)
My husband had one of my diamond earrings remade after I lost it on our honeymoon in the ocean. They were a gift first from my grandmother and she passed away in October. He took the one that was left and had a new one made and gave them to me for my birthday in December. I was so surprised! Love that man!
The best birthday surprise was a handmade card from my son.
It was the silliest card, made from lined paper, a pencil and a lot of stick men but it was the best birthday surprise because:
1. I wasn’t expecting him to remember my birthday,
2. He put a lot of time an effort into the card,
3. He was so proud to hand it to me.
It’s in our keepsake book and I’ll cherish it forever!
Happy birthday Ann!! When my now-almost5-yr-old daughter was 3 my husband helped her make a night shirt for me with fabric paint that had her handprints and said happy birthday mommy, I love you! It was the most awesome present ever and I love love love it!!
I am so fortunate to have my sister Lynsy, but I am reminded of this even more every year on my birthday! She is so good at making my birthday extra special every year. Two years ago (on my 31st birthday) I was pregnant with my son, and frankly feeling a little down about 31. 30 was great, 31 seemed different. Lynsy knew this, and she worked extra hard to make my day great.
She planned a huge surprise for me by getting us tickets to OPRAH’s Birthday show. I had no idea, but Oprah and I have the same birthday, and she was having a party for her birthday and inviting guests to her show that share her birthday.
And not only did my sister get tickets to the show, she contacted the producer of the show, and they asked her to video tape her surprising me with the tickets! She made the cutest “O Boy, we are going to Oprah” sign (playing up on the fact that I was pregnant with a Boy), and Oh Boy I was surprised. We got to sit in the front row, and then go up on stage for cake and presents with Oprah! It was really a dream come true (check going to an Oprah show off the bucket list), especially now that Oprah has retired.
I have a summer birthday and have the pleasure of vacationing with my whole family at the beach. We usually have about 30 family members and have kept up the tradition for 23 years. Wonderful lifelong memories!
The best bday present ever… when my son was about 3, he made a card for me. He told my husband he had to do something and when I opened it up, Canadian Tire money (store here that gives out “money” towards your next purchase) fell out. Apparently he had seen everyone else putting money in cards and felt he needed to do the same. Love that kid – ha!
My favorite gift was a suprise family trip to the zoo. Sounds silly, but with 4 kids and a HECTIC schedule, it was perfect for this mom!
Oh my gosh…In 5th grade I received the Encylopedia of the Horse (which I still have and cherish at age 37!!!) from my grandparents and a strawberry shaped backpack (swoon….). It was the best birthday ever!!!!
Has to be the pink 10 speed bike when turned 10. I was born in december and can remember my parents helping me try to ride it in the house because we had too much snow outside! I loved that bike!!

Best birthday gift I have ever gotten had to be a trip to Vegas. It was my 21st birthday gift and it was scheduled a week after my best friend turned 21. Her & I had a blast!

Well, this isn’t the most exciting gift but it is the one that I use the most often–a table top sized cutting mat (about 36″ x 56″). I love it!–I’ve actually used up one and am now working on my 2nd one. (I do a lot of rotary cutting!)

This isn’t my story but my daughters. She is 2 1/2 and shares a birthday with her great grandpa. she actually was born in the same hospital he was in at the time. He got an infection and than sepsis and passed away 2 months later at 75 years old. He was so tickled that she shared his birthday and even though his health deteriorated so quickly he w as able to hold her one time and was so proud. And I am glad I got a picture of it so I can show her with the wonderful man she shares a birthday with, and tell her what an awesome man he was and how special she is to have that in common
my husband!!! We got married one day before my birthday…followed by honeymoon in Hawaii!!!
Best gift ever-a bookmark my girl made me with her handprint. She does it every year with her dad and it is a reminder to enjoy life because time goes by too fast.
How about the worst one ever?? Birthdays are always fun, always special. Sometimes they are really cool presents or the peeerfect gift. Other times it’s more about going to dinner with friends or the handmade card your 4 year old made… all are welcomed, all are appreciated! I always ALWAYS have an ice cream cake! BUT one birthday I do NOT want to remember was year 29. Ugghh. Lily was 8 weeks old, and at 6 weeks old I blew out my ACL. I was in a leg brace, awaiting surgery. I was carrying her around in the Bjorn and my crutches as she screamed and cried (she had food allergies and we didn’t know yet!) I was in freezing cold Alaska without a friend in site. My dear husband was so busy working looong looong days and we hardly saw the sunlight. It was rough – but we had plenty to be thankful for. I woke up on my dear birthday ready to celebrate. Sadly, what woke me up was a tooth ache. I had never had one! I’ve always had good dental care. I muscled through it as long as I could and finally broke down… had to find a dentist as we had moved there 7-8 months ago. Found one and here I go – screaming newborn that wanted to nurse, crutches, “broken” knee and huge knee brace… as I sit in the chair – rocking the carseat, I hear the words “root canal.” ON MY FRONT TOOTH! There was no cavity. There was no reason – but alas, I had an abcessed nerve and had to have a root canal – there, on the spot. NO THANK you to year 29. I’ll pass on that kind of birthday. I prefer the ones like I just had – when mom (grandma) comes to visit for a whole week. MUUUCH better.
