Hello, again :)

Hey all you blog readers, it’s me Emily. I’m back! After a brief break from Matilda Jane over the summer, I have transitioned from warehouse employee to the Platinum Department. Woot, woot!

So what else is new with me? My seven year old daughter has joined our local junior roller derby girls squad. The team is called the Tootsie Rollers and is made up of  girls ages 5 to 8.  She LOVES it, and wears her roller skates anywhere that will let her in the door with them on…… I am thrilled that she has finally found a fun activity that she enjoys. We have tried many of the usual extra curricular activities, but with little luck. I feel like I did a good job finding this opportunity for her to be herself, and am so thankful for the volunteer coaches, referees and parents that make the Tootsie Rollers possible in Fort Wayne. Oh, and a big thanks to our neighbor sisters for introducing us to Roller Derby and the Derby Brats.

*Really concentrating….. she learned to blow bubbles, ride a big girl bike, AND jumped off the diving board all by herself  this summer. She is really proud of herself and so am I!

I am seven months pregnant, patiently waiting for my new little one to arrive sometime in January. I am having a little girl and cannot wait to meet her! My big girl however is not very excited to have a new addition to our family. She has been the center of the universe for seven years and is nervous about having another little person in the mix. She is warming up to the idea a little bit at a time, I think. Just this week she started talking to my belly and filling her new sister in on important things about me and our family.

Big Sis to the Baby in my belly: “Good night, baby. Do you dream?” “Mom  falls down a lot, and wears all black. But really she’s alright.” “When you can walk we will go on adventures together, but you have to stay with me, because you won’t know where to go.” “You are lucky to be so small. I’m too big for Mom to carry around…. but I get to eat pizza.”

What fun new developments we’ve had in the summer of 2012! I hope the rest of the year brings more unfiltered realizations by my 7 year old, and continued healthy growth for both of my little ladies.

Cheers, *em

This was so much fun to read! I love your little Tootsie Roller! She sounds very clever! Those convos with little sis are so sweet!

I must tell you that a local roller derby girl that works at our Whole Foods always says that my little Noor (she’ll be 2 in Jan) is going to be a derby girl someday! I can’t think of a better complement!
