But everyone here calls me “Sha”. In fact, Miss Samantha didn’t even know my name was actually Alicia until about 6 months ago. It all started when I came to MJC as a part time packer in the Fall of 2009. I was in my senior year of college, completing my degree in Business Management and working at local school as an Early Childhood teaching assistant. In fact, my job at that school opened all the doors and windows to my incredible position at Matilda Jane. You see, I spent time with some cute little DeMarchis boys during the Extended Day programs I helped with. We spent many hours making cool art projects, playing outside, and doing science experiments. It was a blast! I worked with 2 through 5 year old children–you all know how fun kids are at that age, they say anything and believe everything!
Anyway, one day a little girl came in with this ADORABLE t-shirt on. The back of it said, “Princesses wear crowns to remind them of how beautiful they are”. I was in love. And so I had to figure out what this Matilda Jane Clothing company was all about. Imagine my surprise when I found out that I had been chatting with the owners of this company every day when they came to pick up their children. And they were totally normal, nice, friendly people who built their incredible company from the ground up…just doing what they love and giving back to people all the time.
It was at that time that I realized I absolutely had to get in there and see how they do it. How they could run a company that truly does have it all–great bosses, employees who have become family, the ability and desire to give back to the community and customers who have become friends and family. Everything I’ve always dreamed about, seriously. So I asked if I could intern or do anything they needed. Just to get a glimpse inside that magical 435 world. And so I became a packer for the Gypsy Blue season. And when I arrived, no one knew my name. I was every pronunciation of Alicia, except the right one. So it was decided that I’d be called “Sha”.

Fast forward past the spring/summer of 2010– when I graduated college and got married–to when I got the call (on my honeymoon!!) to come back to MJC and work in the office. My dream come true!! And now I’m here…surrounded by great friends and talking to awesome new people every day. And I love it. I couldn’t ask for better bosses, coworkers, customers, and clothing! Okay, I’m done being mushy…
^^^That’s my husband! I love him![]()
Now, I’d like to share a little known fact about me…I see bunnies. No really. I’ve seen a bunny or two around MJC’s lawn and none of the office girls believe me! Once, for a split second, out of the corner of my eye, I thought I saw a white bunny in Lynette’s trash can. Unfortunately, I chose to state that aloud. Turns out it was just paper. Then, later that day I saw a bunny hopping through the grass as I was leaving work. Immediately, I yelled for Lynette to”LOOK” and just when she turned her head, the bunny jumped behind a bush. Strike 2 for Alicia. And so now, I cannot mention the word “bunny” without my so-called hallucinations being brought up. So it only makes sense that when Kayla and Lynette returned home from China, I would find this cute lil’ guy…
And that when I pointed him out, everyone in the office pretended like they couldn’t see him. What probably doesn’t make much sense is that Mr. Bunny now proudly wears a toupee (compliments of Becky). But that’s another story for another day.

So can you tell that we have fun in this office?? I love my girls…all of them! I feel so blessed to have this job and these friends!!
And now, 10 points to the person who can guess who the talker of our group is…haha! And 10 more points if you read this whole thing–thanks for sticking with me! Obviously I love to talk and I’m so excited that I’m able to officially introduce myself to all of you! I bet I’ve talked to each of you on the phone at least once and I feel like I know you gals…for real. My husband thinks I’m crazy when I talk about a customer like I’ve known her for years. It’s why I love my job. Because you’re not just customers, you’re friends. And I love my friends!

You are so darn cute!! I am so glad that so many different people are blogging about their jobs at MJC. Now, I feel like I can connect a name that is signed on the packing slip to your face! Merry Christmas.
Oh, and I am going to guess that Desi is the talker in the group!
Lol on the bunnies and you and your husband are such cuties! I think it would be tons of fun for your new little bunny to be Mjc’s elf on the shelf! I can just imagine him hanging out, causing trouble and then everybody claiming he is just a figment of your imagination! Too funny! I don’t know who the talker is, but I read the entire post, but then again I don’t know what the points are for, but I am going to remember I have ten!

Love that part about the bunnies. When I was little I swear I saw the Easter Bunny outside my window.
Alicia, of course!
It sounds like the T-shirt that brought you to Matilda Jane in the first place should make a come back. Great story by the way.
Love learning more about each of you in your blog post
.
Alicia – Sha’ is fantastic!
Enjoy yourself ladies – Merry Christmas!
I believe you when you say you see bunnies! HA 20 points for me! Nice to see a face to the voice on the phone! Merry Xmas Alicia!
You are a remarkable girl……..just Fabulous!
I guess Alicia is the talker and I read the entire post …
I love hearing more about all of you, but how fun to hear individual stories in first person. “HOME is where your story begins” … but when you grow up, it’s your WORKPLACE that takes up a lot of chapters! MJC is a great story … with a lot of subplots! You guys could make a coffee table book out of your blog posts!!
I love this post. I adore when people speak from the heart.
Great story…must be awesome to work with such wonderful people and enjoy going to work everyday!!
I think you should blog more often!
you are too funny
Ha! Funny, you and I actually talked about how people are constantly mispronouncing our names. My favorite is “A-lick-e-a”
You are just too cute!! I gladly read your entire post and didn’t get bored, which means you’re pretty dang good
(I don’t have the biggest attention span, lol). My girls have those fur bunnies too!
I LOVED that t-shirt. It was my first MJ item I ever owned…and then came all the rest. I am guessing that you are the talker. ha ha. Great post. Great people you work for.

ps..at least you don’t see giant pink dancing elephants
happy holidays!!! <3 your clothes.
LOVE me some Alicia!!!!
I think I just talked to you this week on the phone about an order! So fun to “meet” you on the blog!
Since I read this entire thing…your personality seems to make you the talker
Alicia! I always love talking to you on the phone when I call. Secretly I cross my fingers and hope it is you answering. You are the sweetest! Wishing you the best this Holiday Season!!
I am gonna guess that Alicia is the talker of the bunch! Cute pic of you and hubby on your honeymoon! Love it!
