Just for the Sake of it

There is nothing better than helping someone just for the sake of being nice. And when it happens to you, oh the feeling is indescribable. Yup, I got chills and they are multiplying (Love that song). Us girls at Matilda Jane have been working on some pretty cool, top secret stuff for this holiday season. Spread the Love will be in full force again right after Thanksgiving, so no worries there! Oh, but there is so much, SO much that  we had to ask help from a few, ok quite a few, folks that were complete strangers.  I am not one to ask for anything. I would much rather just do it myself and sacrifice a little. This totally drives my friends nuts!  I think I have always been like this. Actually, I can almost remember school shopping with my mom once and her saying “Nece, if you don’t ask for something or let me know you want it, you won’t get anything.” (Clarification, that is not a bad thing, just a simple fact, If she doesn’t know I want it, how does she know to buy it).

I don’t like attention, I would much rather be under the radar and totally the girl in the room that no one saw.  It’s just me. Ha, and last week I went to a fundraiser with some of my friends and I realized I really need to talk more, cuz I’m gonna start being known as that “weird” friend who doesn’t talk.  Ya, uh-huh, I can totally see that happening.

Anyways back to my original thoughts before I start blogging about my crazy personal quirks.  I wanted to say this past week has been a bit of a challenge. Kayla is in charge of some of these  “top secret” projects coming up but seeing she is in China I had to get the ball rolling. And that involved asking a lot, I mean a lot of people for some favors.  I was totally, completely, almost embarrassed, but I figured they didn’t know who was behind the keyboard so I just clicked “send”.

Do you know how happy I was when almost everyone replied with “Oh, my goodness, I would love to help”.  No one asked “what’s in it for me”.  How cool is that?  I mean seriously, helping just for the sake of helping, just for the sake of creating some smiles.  Amazing. I love it.  It really is what it is all about.

On another note, I have quickly been beyond inspired by Jessica of Noonday Collection. She twittered us about a photo and her name was so remarkable I had to google it.  Seriously, you have to read her story and if you are looking for any great gifts, totally check out their site. I just bought some real great pieces that are going to look gorgeous with our Spring Collection.

Well, I guess I had better finish tying knots! Have a great weekend,

-Denise (yup, decided I should put my name seeing the  435 gals have all caught the bug of blogging!)

So glad your top secret plans are working out! And I LOVE the pictures. BEAUTIFUL! Sophie has outgrown her Frankie dress, and I miss it so much. But we have so many other MJC beauties for her to wear. Take care and good luck with your future plans.

I am a small business owner to a small embroidery business. I read your post and I would be more than happy to help donate anything I could to help out. Please let me know if there is a way I can help without anything in return. Thank you so much for sharing!

Maybe you should plan a “Matilda Jane go day ” where all the 435 gals and the fans can volunteer/come together to help build a habitat house or help the community in some other way! It would be a great way for us MJ fans to hang out and meet each other and also do something great for our community!
