Resolutions

I know what you are thinking… stay with me because if you are anything like me,  you make that New Years Resolution come January 1st. Confident this year will be different and a month later, you forget you even made it. Yep, happens every year. Lynette laughed at me this year when I told her I had a really good and I was 100% going to follow it. Last year I had just bought a house a few months before the Holiday and was super excited to fix things up. There for, my news resolution was to save money. No more clothes or shoe shopping for me. There was of course some stipulations, I could shop if I had a gift cards to use. I am not sure how long the no shopping resolution lasted but I totally forgot I made it till Lynette brought it up this year. Opps!!!

This year though, my resolution didn’t involve material things. I was simply going to make more time for friends. I am not from Fort Wayne. I was actually raised in a small town north of Purdue University. After High School I went off to College in California so most of  my close friends are no closer then 2-3 hours. I think about them daily but think it is important to set time aside to spend time with them. I admit I am bad about that. I think many of us just get caught up in work and day to day activites and fail to make the plans even if it is just for the weekend. I am so blessed to work such amazing women I can call friends, we are all so different and each bring something to the MJC table. There is nothing like old friends though, the ones who grew with you through it all. Those are the friends you can’t forget. Meet Melissa (Middle) and Amanda (Right) friends since college. Melissa is in Long Beach and Amanda lives in Detroit. LOVE those girls even when I don’t see their faces.

My track record obviously has not been very good, I am hoping now that I said it publicly you ladies can hold me to it.  All I can say is good thing I didn’t choose dieting as my resolution. I would have failed weeks ago. Each day Alicia brings in more and more junk. Some how my desk as been the catch all.  Trust me my thighs and booty are thanking her as I stuff my face..No really I am typing one handed while I reaching for the next cookie. Good thing she is cute and sweet or I would have stuffed her in a box and shipped her to Russia. Knowing her though, she would have shipped us back a care package filled with cookies and cream puffs.

On that note, I think it is time to head home. I am hungry and can’t say I have eaten much of anything with nutritional substance.

I think the moral of this story is “Best Friends, They know how crazy you are and still choose to be seen with you in public.” (No matter how big your butt gets)

XOXO

Kayla

Making time for those so dear to us is very important. I recently moved and I’m so excited that one of my best friends is making the apx. 4 hour journey to see me in a few weeks during Mardi GRAS. Enjoy your friend time :) .
