Under the Big Top

3I’ve said it once, or 20 times before…it is so exciting to see our designs come to life. It’s almost like by the time Sam and I have “forgotten” them,  they roll back in and steal our hearts. We spend months working, designing, tweaking colors, changing trims and then try to capture it all in a photoshoot so that we can share our vision with you. Crazy times. And when it all rolls around to the shows, here Sam and I are back to square one with another season.  And guess what…we’ve got a new designer to experience it all with next time around.

What I love most about “A Wonderful Parade” is the sweet yet playful prints and the perfect colors. I describe them as very “smooth and creamy”.  Ya know, like a creamsicle. Fresh. I love how this collection builds upon itself. It keeps getting better and better. And the outfit combinations only get more perfect.

In my last post I said how everything was looking like springtime everywhere I turned.  And I know you thought I was nuts cuz it’s been freezing out. But when you live in MJC land, you are surrounded by all these great colors and prints. No place else I’d rather be. Heck, you should put on Mama Mia and your Spring collection of MJC and have your own little sunshine for a few hours. Maybe turn on a few tanning lamps. I’m totally dating myself. Back in the 90’s I am certain I had a sun lamp (no, not tanning booth just  a single bulb). It certainly kept those winter blues away.

1Kayla, Lynette and Maddie came over tonite, Maddie is here all the way from New York. Her first day at Matilda Jane is Monday. Yup, she is uprooting her family of four and heading to the great Fort Wayne. I am beyond excited. It’s so cool for Sam and I to have another designer on board. It’s always exciting to have new ideas. Maddie’s focus will be women’s but I am certainly gonna love hearing her thoughts on children’s and tween’s. It’s gonna be so much fun! 3 designers equals great things for MJC.

1So as we begin to call it a night Lynette and I of course start talking “shop”.  And rumor on the street, that has now been confirmed, is that the Homecoming Sara Top will not be released in Collection Two. Well, at least within the first week. Or maybe not even the second. As of right now she is MIA. She made it to the loading dock, into QC but after that we are not quite sure. But all hands are on deck looking for the cute little top and as soon as we find her your Trunk Keeper will let you know. Crazy right? But it’s the truth. I guess sometimes not all things are smooth sailing.

PS. The Tween Tabitha Skirt is so my fave in Collection Two.

Priscilla Bockelman - March 1, 2014 - 11:48 am

Please….another Cupcake dress for women!! So happy there is another designer to focus on women’s. Love new ideas. I know there has been talk about a tween release this season and I’m still holding on to hope. It seems almost every piece I like this season that has came out this season is too small for my 9 year old. Maybe you could have a tween mom advisory board and ask suggestions with designs. There are a whole group of moms on the tween scene page on Facebook that love to support your company, but nothing is fitting. I’m not wanting to complain and cause drama. I just want to keep my daughter in MJ for as long as I can and when nothing fits or the styles/patterns aren’t right, it’s hard.

This collection makes my heart happy. I’m excited about your new designer, (she sounds so intrepid, like a true MJC girl is), and what a mystery you have seeking that precious top!
