Namaste

Wednesday. The day’s almost over, but not really since I live, breathe, and eat Matilda Jane (I’m fairly certain I’ve typed that before). We are knee deep in conference, even though we are still swimming through the odds and ends left after Art Fair. And omg, its soooooo hot here. I don’t know if it’s just us here in Indiana or not (I could check on this with a simple google search I’m sure!), but we are sweaty, sweaty gals these days! Our building has air conditioning…kinda. Only in parts. And it doesn’t always work. Ha, so many things we can improve upon for next summer, right?

Anyway…..I feel like I’m saying nothing. But I’m thinking everything. I know it’s not true since I’m a loud mouth that doesn’t shut up. It’s just this feeling of paralysis lately. Not being able to see ahead, past the bad…but I do see the big picture. And funny enough, for once, it’s not Matilda Jane! It’s Denise. Denise and her family. Her recovery. It’s her. She is Matilda Jane. She IS the big picture. To so many of us.

Lately I’ve seen more love than usual at our building, our home. More hugs, more well wishes, and more positive attitudes despite the horror most of us feel inside for what’s going on. I hope I do not sound like a negative Nelly because TRUST ME we’ve got this. Denise has got this. And the moment I feel myself heading down the dark path, Kayla straightens me out. She’s really got the best outlook. I so admire her for it right now.

The last few times I saw Denise she looked amazing. AMAZING. Happy, healthy, smiling, laughing. Every single time I see her WITHOUT FAIL it makes me feel better. I wish I could bring you all to see her actually so you’d know what I’m saying!!

And that’s all I’ll say about that. Moving forward…. Funny, I said “moving forward” to Lauren today and she said “We’ve heard that a lot lately” and it’s so true. We have added so many awesome people to the team this year, even just this summer! We’ve got Jeff our super hero of a CEO. He walks around smiling, greeting, and making us all feel a part of this big family. We’ve got Juris and Dawn! Juris is a number whiz and Dawn is a people person extraordinaire. And we just hired a slew of packers to help get your orders to you fast, fast, fast! Or at least faster! So moving forward is what we are all about lately.

And that brings me to our Fall 2013 collection Paint By Numbers. The introduction you deserve is coming, I promise! And along with it MORE sneak peeks. I know we’ve been holding out on you longer than usual this year! Sorry for that, friends!

Oh and lastly, I saw one of your comments to Denise and read “Namaste” at the end. I love that. We all need a little of that right now. Don’t you think?

LOVE,

SAM

What type of work did you do prior to launching Matilda Jane? Ahh … what didn’t I do? I have always been about “if you don’t love it, don’t do it” which lead to many jobs from Kentucky Fried Chicken to a sales rep at Coca Cola to a manager at Claire’s in the mall. And, of course, I painted furniture and sold through the art fair circuit as well as retail stores.
