I’m all over the place

Lately I have been so…out of it. I know that is the worst way to describe it because it’s actually quite the opposite. Sometimes I think I’m involved in so much that I can’t focus on one thing. I keep typing out different ways to explain it and then deleting it because it sounds too much like complaining. Which I’m so not trying to do!! I just think sometimes I spread myself too thin, so the things that deserve ALL of me aren’t GETTING all of me. Does that make any sense??

Enough complaining from me already! I couldn’t be happier with the things that keep me oh so busy here at MJC. Not to mention the fact that Denise keeps telling me I need to hire an assistant. Can you BELIEVE that??!!?!! I hardly can. And I don’t even know how it will work because I have a real hard time giving up my jobs. How are things supposed to be done correctly if it’s not ME doing them!? Ha, I’m sure Denise battled with the same feelings when she had me join her in design. And I know Lynette has been going through the same thing, since recently Cindy and Chelsa have joined her team.

It’s hard to share when it comes to MJC! All the wonderful jobs I have here feel like they were always meant for me. I can’t imagine someone else sending the emails I send, or doing the things I do! It’s just not work, it’s all so very personal feeling to me. To all of us at MJC actually.

And the things I’ve been working on lately? Oh you know, finishing catalog 3 up with Andrea this week, finishing Spring 2013 fabrics, designing Spring 2013, preparing for the launch of TGO, finalizing Fall 2013… And the list goes on and on. You know what’s awesome and amazing and great though? Denise decided last week that she and I should work at least one night at Platinum together. So each week we will get even more time to work on ART FAIR pieces! Which I’m just so excited about. There’s nothing like designing 15 dresses in one night and cutting them in quantities of 6 or less. Especially when I know how much you guys are going to love each piece we make. You should see the INSANE amount of fabric we have right now, gives me the chills just thinking about it. And seriously, boxes and boxes of art fair stuff already cut and sewn! June can’t come soon enough, am I right?

LOVE, SAM

I will totally be your assistant! Dream job!

Paige Liggett - March 5, 2012 - 11:10 am

You girls enjoy your evening work…I’ve already started saving my $$$ for Art Fair!!! :)

Kristen - March 5, 2012 - 1:05 pm

I totally understand what your talking about. I’m not sure I’m a good multitasker! When I get myself too busy I always have to slow myself down and remember what’s truly most important. For me it’s being a Mom to my 3 wonderful children. I feel so blessed. :) Have fun working on platinum!

Christie - March 5, 2012 - 1:12 pm

You probably should get an assistant, but I know it is difficult. Like you, I love my job. It’s work, but I really enjoy it most of the time. I finally had to get an assistant, and I might be one of the easiest bosses around because I still have a difficult time delegating tasks. I typically do most of the work myself, but I’m getting better at it. So glad you enjoy what you do. It truly is a blessing!

shanna s. - March 5, 2012 - 1:31 pm

You are absolutely right! I cannot wait until af either and seeing all the goodies. . .please make plenty of 18 months and 2′s please!

Heather D. - March 5, 2012 - 1:54 pm

It’s wonderful that you take such pride in your work that you don’t want to delegate it…but I would certainly take Denise up on her offer to hire an assistant. The right assistant will get you back in focus and as organized as you’ve ever wanted to be! :-) I’m so (selfishly) excited to see your and Denise’s collarborations at AF, but I’m also excited that you both get to spend some girl time together once a week. What fun!

Meli - March 5, 2012 - 2:40 pm

Understand
Completely on a much smaller scale I am positive of that. p.s. Let me know if you are in search of new model….lol. My daughter would be perfect!! Love mjc…..

Karen Eisman - March 5, 2012 - 3:17 pm

Sam,your not in the “boat” alone. lol My schedule has been so hectic lately too, I have the same feeling as you do-spreading yourself thin. Between working 45 hours a week, 16 (credit hours) of school, 4 kids, softball team (my girls), NAYS chapter Director(softball,)4 meetings in the next two weeks, a family funeral last week, and other choirs I’ve forgotten, just knowing the date is amazing!lol (P.S. I have actually forgotten to pick up my youngest two from daycare twice last month, and…got half way to work and realized if didn’t drop them off! My husband has now too over this choir *no children where harmed in my forgetfulness.)Hang in there it will all be worth it!

Love your posts! I recently found your old Blog … So good that you are even more excited about what you do and that you still love your job!!

Hello..Hola..Ciao..Bonjour…..

It’s funny how fast time flies around here. It’s Friday already, heck it’s March already. Where did January and February go?

One, I got up this morning and wasn’t really even sure what day  it was…( I hadn’t had my morning coffee yet). Two, when I realized it was Friday I was pretty happy. Three, I had this little debate in my head on whether or not it was Desi’s turn or mine to Blog today. Desi was winning; until I looked at the Calendar and realized it had been two weeks since Valentine’s…It was definitely my turn.  Four, WHAT was I going to blog about today. For the most part I like to plan ahead (a little).  At least have some idea of what  topic I will talk about. Today I had NOTHING..lol. I racked my brain the whole car ride to work. Then I checked my emails, which is the first thing I do when I get in. I had the cutest email from one of you lovely ladies. She was responding to a question that I had wrote in her order. That’s when my blog idea came to me. I was going to blog about all of you.

I just want to share a little bit about how much I love getting emails and pictures from all of you. It is nice to look at a name on an order and feel connected to it. To wonder if I will ever get a chance to put a name to a face or a voice…. perhaps Art Fair?

I like looking at where you are all from. Texas orders are amongst my favorites, both sides of my family are from Texas.  A small town called Paris..( it does have it’s very own Eiffel Tower complete with a cowboy hat). I always wonder how close all of you live to my family.

I love when I have seen pictures of your daughters. It’s nice to pack a super cute dress and think how cute it is going to be on your little ones. To be able to personalize your notes  makes it all the more special to me.

I like getting notes from all of you for no reason at all but to say Hi! Have a great week!; just as much as I like writing to all of you.

So thanks to all of you for your little notes, emails, and pictures. You really do put a smile on my face each and every time I hear from one of you.

Short, but Oh So Sweet!

Until we meet!

xoxo

<3

Hi Carrie!!! Love our conversations!!! You are the sweetest- see you ar Art Fair!!!:)

My Girl

It’s gonna be a day for the unexpected. Yup, something I never EVER do I am about to hit the enter button and just post it! I gotta cuz I love this girl and it wouldn’t  make sense if we were not in the pic together.

Meet my dearest gal pal, Renee. Actually many of you probably know her. Renee has been to one too many art fairs, helped me set up that tent many of times, she’s been to Trunk Keeper Conferences and 435. She is my girl! I love her. When things get crazy and beyond manageable just hearing her voice or a simple text puts things at ease. She gets me, she knows me and she expects nothing from me. Man, I love her.  And guess what? Renee had a baby yesterday!! A little boy named Nolan Walter!

And that is one reason I really wanted The Good Ones to launch yesterday! Nolan was gonna be The Good Ones baby!

And yes that photo is really old, but we were so cute and so fun and so young..ahh
