Being a Mom is hard to do…

Sometimes I think too much before I blog. I swear I just spend 15 minutes looking for a cute pic, but I decided to go non MJC and give you cute Joe when he was about 5. He was so cute, but actually I think more sweet! And why is it today I find myself constantly saying, “Joe, you need to think about what you are saying before you say it.”  Gosh, it was so much easier when they we little. Now I feel the overwhelming responsibility of making sure the boys are nice, respectful young lads. It is hard. You all know that. As Joe gets older I am seeing his personality shine through. He does have a huge heart but gosh, sometimes I want to strangle him and say, “Joe, did you even think about how you would make Gabe feel before you said that?” Ahhhh, growing up is hard to do.

So as I am walking down memory lane looking at these photos of my boys, I came across so many photos from you guys. Oh, my! I just had to share cuz I knew they would jog your brain exactly to where mine is,  “Enjoy what you have and savor every moment because it someday you will not be the center of their world” I hope that sound ok. You know what I mean…. I always worry about what I say and that someone will take it the wrong way. Gosh, I need to stop worrying.

Here’s just a few, a very few, of the photos I have. I love seeing your pics! It really makes me think to myself, “wow, it’s so cool, that little miss is wearing one of my dresses.” Love that feeling.  So in light of shaping our kids to be the best girl/boy the can be and the trial and tribulations of being a mom, my contest of the day, (well, few days? ) is to post older pic on our FB wall and let us know a simple lesson of life you are working on. I’ll randomly select 3 or 4 pics to get a great hobo bag with a nice stash inside!

I so know how you feel! I am always telling my son to think about what he says to his sister. But I know, having two sisters and a brother myself that kids have to get those impulses out and tamed with in the loving environment of their family.

Wow, what a memory this brings back. That pic of Sadie (the little girlie on the saddle) is seriously one of my most favorite pics of her ever. I love seeing all of these older pictures and lines!

Thank you for such a sweet post and another generous contest. I can’t wait to walk through my memory lane of photos to find one to share. Have a great week!

I have only been in the MJC “family” for about a year now, but even my older pieces bring beautiful memories back. Thanks MJC!

What a very sweet contest except I miss the days when the contests were on the blog. It was so fun that way. I have several old pics and they all remind me of the fun times that we have shared together. Pictures are the BEST way to remember moments that you sometimes forget about. :-)

Fun contest ( I will put thought to it and hope to win) :)

I just love seeing all the pictures! Amazing clothing and we are just blessed to have a few of your pieces. Thanks for the chance <3

Love the look on Joe’s face in the ‘photo … like he just doesn’t have a care in the world :-) . I so appreciate your candor; you always make me feel so much better about myself … especially as a mom. Growing up is hard to do, indeed … even for some of us so-called “grown-ups” sometimes!

Last year our third child was born. We didn’t know if he would live. He is a stroke victim with ongoing health issues. This last year has been an incredible learning experience, a year of miracles and a year where we have learned that right now is all we have! And right now is beautiful! Alas, I don’t have a picture that goes with that so we’ll go with this instead:

Oh, what a great contest, but … YES, you do worry too much! Those presh boys of yours … they will learn what they live … and you live a good life of doing it all (family, work, play, travel, adventure, family, work, play, travel … and giving back)! They will grow up JUST DOING IT … not even thinking about why … just knowing “that’s what we do – we share our good fortune – we give back.” Joe may have more adversity than Gabe, but both boys are going to be better MEN for their respective roles in this life you live! For the contest, I was going to post a picture of my boy, Jason, from way back when … the days I was agonizing just like you are now! That boy … oh, what a man he grew into … it’s a beautiful thing! He celebrated his 37th birthday last week … and he sent me flowers … with a card thanking me for these wonderful 37 years! And that, Dear Friend, is what you have to look forward to!! P.S. Do what I did, choose your own daughters-in-law … I won my first Spread the Love Contest by nominating my DIL – Jason’s wife, Krystyna!!! P.S.S. I did Cousin-Friends for the contest … I could break my arm patting myself on the back for what a great parenting job I did with the big kids!! Oh, and you get to be a Grammie when you get finished with the Mommy/Kid Gig … Grammie? It is THE BEST role ever!

I’ve said it before, all I want is to raise little boys who will be kind to little girls, polite to their teachers and the type to always stand up for what’s right and be honest. I am so proud of my 8yr old Caleb. He is this type of little boy. I can’t take credit. Its how God made him. Having two sisters to love and the right influences in his life have made him what he is right now. A straight A student, sports star, and a little saint of God. Id be lying if I said there aren’t moments when I have to remind him of what’s truly right and to be kind. Its just part of raising boys. :)

It is really hard to remember that we truly are the center of their universe…somedays when I think about that, I feel so guilty for getting mad at them or yelling at them…it’s a lot of pressure when you really think about that…I don’t want to mess my kids up…lol..I want them to be happy first and foremost…polite, respectful all while letting their personalities shine through. I have to try to remember that about myself too…after all, they are little sponges aren’t they? <3

ps…Joe’s pants are rockin’!!!!

We are just finding Matilda Jane so I do not have a picture to share:( we are working on manners at our house. I am a first grade teacher and everyday I see so many kids who lack simple manners such as saying good morning when someone says it to them, saying please and thank you, and simply smiling when you walk by someone. I want to teaxh my little girl to have wonderful manners now, so when she is on her own manners will be a natural habit.

What a sweet blog. I love the idea of savoring every moment because they sure do grow up fast! Thanks for sharing these photos with us! I remember the day I took the photo of my three from above and the laughter rings loud in my thoughts. My kids giggled with glee at the thought of taking a picture to send to MJC. I’m expecting a package tomorrow of some new goodness to be a part of future savoring time!

I think the main “lesson” we’re trying to instill in our little ones is to be comfortable in their own skin & never be afraid to be themselves. A few weeks ago while dressing our 2 year old my 6 yr old shouted “don’t you just LOVE Matilda Jane Annabelle?, & our 2 year old just smiled.. I then asked Morgan our 6 year old why she loved Matilda Jane.. And she simply responded that “Anything could happen when she wore MJ” as a mother raising children in these scary days.. I want my little ones to have a extra shield of armor on everyday! Thank you for giving our sweet girl that extra piece to help her feel comfortable in her skin & realize Anything is possiable!

I just heard about Matilda Jane so I don’t have a picture of my daughter wearing your clothes…maybe next time!! But I will add that we are working on appreciation here at my house. And how we should all be thankful for what we have, even if its not what we want.

My son is 10 and truly a blessing to all of us. Our fertility baby we didn’t think we would have. He has always been the kindest and most polite little man. When we had our surprise baby girl 3 yrs ago we hoped and prayed his personilty and demeanor would stay the same. He has and always will be the gift we have hoped and prayed for. Children are truly a gift from God. ;-)

So many great life lessons are being shared. I think the motto of “A little kindness goes a long way” is one of the many things I spew out every day. I know that every day is a gift and we have to make the most of this time here with our loved ones!

Seeing all these cute pictures is making me want to repurchase everything in my daughters current size. I have a favorite memory in every single MJ piece we own!

This brought a few tears to my eye. I worry sometimes to much about the big picture. Instead I should enjoy those little momemts more. Time goes by so fast… the days can be so long but the year so fast. Hate thatIm just know seeing this but sure enjoyed reading it!!
