Wow, have I been slacking or what? I told David the first thing I am doing this morning is blogging. I lied. I shoveled the side walk (love that snow), shoveled part of the driveway of the new place, took so much dang garbage to 435 (good thing they have a dumpster) and set up Shop My Stuff. And now here I am.
Deedee came down and is helping us pack all this junk up. I started tossing stuff out when she suggested Shop My Stuff. She’s pretty dang smart. So I packed up all the cute stuff that I really like but just have had stored away forever and brought it to 435. I should’ve taken a pic this morning, I’ll take one for round 2. It’s pretty simple. The rules for the 435 gals are: It’s all cute, it’s all free. Take turns, be fair and share. So it’s like a mini Gsale on the cutting table but it’s all cute and it’s all free!
We are so fortunate, one to get the house we’ve been trying for for just under a year, and two to know the past owner/builder. I love them, adore them and think nothing but the world of them. I remember long ago when Joe was just a few weeks old and I was so afraid to cut his finger nails. You know how thin they are and I didn’t want to cut him. So I called Linda up and Scott ran over and cut his nails for me. Love them.
And the other day he gave me some pics of the house being built. The one above is the backside. For real, pinch me, cuz this is so dang surreal.

SIDENOTE: I used to paint shoes, and just found quite a few pairs of white and pink little canvas mary janes. They are all assorted and what not. If you know anyone who paints shoes leave me a note. First come first serve. IMPORTANT: All 3 boxes ( about 50 pairs) will go to one home, and I can’t divide them up, nor sort through..but are perfect for an shoe painting artist.

I seem to remember liking little Apple Dumpling the best. I really have this urge to go dig them out of my mom’s basement so I…err…Anna can play with them.

The new Strawberry Shortcake has traded her spearmint tights for jeans…she and Apple Dumplin need a room key so they can switch back to the old school style! Otherwise, it’s Sour Grapes!!!!!
All this talk about Strawberry Shortcake dolls brings me back to kindergarten. So I was that kid that had them in a shadow box hanging on her wall just above the bed. Apparently I was missing one and a girl on my bus had just the one I needed to complete my collection. So knowing that I had to pay for things that I wanted I went into my Dad’s secret money jar in his underwear drawer and pulled out a green bill to buy my very own Orange Blossom. The very next day the girl’s mom called my mom and said she could not accept $50.00 for this little figurine….hey I thought it was an even trade. Needless to say my Dad gave me a strong (yet gentle for a kindergartner) talkn to. Those were the days
My mom still has all of our Strawberry Shortcake dolls in an old Strawberry Shortcake metal lunch box. They are all missing at least one shoe and/or accessory but the the box still has a nice aroma when you open it. I don’t like the new SS style…I love the classic. The grandkids seem to prefer the classic as well, over the new style.
I can’t wait for my order to arrive to see if I’m a winner!

On the retro front…my daughter is huge into the smurfs right now..made the mistake of getting her season 1 on dvd this christmas now she wants a smurfs bday party. I have searched the web from A-Z and no smurf party stuff. Lots of crazy people with websites showing their collectable smurf stuff…who are these people?? Its 1 thing to save childhood memories but to devote a website to your smurfs is another thing!! So im getting the creative jucies flowing so i can put on a smurfs bday party for my baby girl!!!

Received my Hammond bay order on Monday! Let me tell you my daughter LOVED everything! She HAD to put on the Raven skirt and dance Yourself Silly tank right then and there, even though there is snow outside, she wore it the rest of the night and gave me grief when it was time to get into her PJ’s. She always loves all her MJ, but this time she was Over the Moon with Excitement! Thank you! It makes mornings so much easier.
On a Strawberry Shortcake note, my daughter has the new ones and cannot stop playing with them. Retro is in. Rainbow Brite is making a comeback too.
Strawberry shortcake collection of dolls was great. Their smell reminds me of Strach n Sniff stickers my teachers would give me in grade school. Oh, to be young again. What a simple life when little things meant so much. Thanks for the glimpse back to the past. MJC rocks!

Got my order yesterday and I absolutely love it. As expected, my daughter is twirling and reveling in her new pretties. I got the mossy willow for me and love love love it. Where are those dark blue ruffles Sam is wearing in the picture? Coming soon I hope.
RE the room keys: Is it safe to say that all of us MJC addicts are in a metaphorical hotel together? I’m excited I actually got a key!
Denise, when the whole family is sleeping in the same bed (usually with the big dog, too) we call it “Packing Out” as in a wolf pack.
Oh how I used to love sniffing Strawberry Shortcake and friends! That and playing with my smurfs-ahhh…OOO I so hope to get a room key! Still anxiously waiting for my HB order – I feel like I am the last one – oh the anticipation!!
These pictures are so cute. Skye is to photography what you are to clothing design!! Looking at the picture of the Maybel suit with the Hammond Bay hat makes me want to kick myself for not getting it!!! Looks like I will be making a third order – HA!!!

I’m so jealous you found your Strawberry Shortcakes. I know mine are packed away in a Clinique makeup bag somewhere in my grandmas atttic. I want to find them so bad. I just bought my daughter her first one. She would love my old collection. I bet they still smell. I used to love to smell them…
I still have all my strawberry shortcake stuff. I got them for Christmas one year – ALL OF THEM. The room that the presents were in SMELLED. My sisters kept trying to put them in the closet, but I would cry and mom made them leave them under the tree. I must say – all of the flavors together was not that plesant. HA!!
My almost 4 yr old LOVES Strawberry Shortcake….even the DVD cases smell like berries. These photos are simply gorgeous!!!!!

How about Cherry Merry Muffins??? I had those and I think I still have the complete set. It had all the girls that smelled like cupcakes and they all came with a recipe card. Their home was a kitchen. LOVE all the flash backs! Man toys were awesome “Back in the day” as my daughter calls it. LOL I am barely ordering on the 15th and wish on a lucky star I get a room key.

I had to literally LOL after reading your post. I was just telling my son last week about how when I was a little girl they had a Strawberry Shortcake contest to win a room filled with Strawberry Shortcake accessories. I told him how every day I would pray and wish that I would win!! That entry form with the photo of the room was so worn after a few months from looking at it everyday. Unfortunately I did not win, but I’m sure I wasn’t the only little girl wishing upon that star!! AHH-hh childhood memories!! Thank you to whoever brought up the smurfs another real favorite. My little ones enjoy watching the cartoon.(me too) I hope you make your new home a really WARM SPACE!!

Aww! Lemon Meringue was MY fave growing up!!! I dressed up as her for Halloween one year & I have been wanting to have my girls be Strawberry Shorcake & Lemon Merigue but can’t find a cute costume for Lemon Meringue! :0(
Reading the comment about Halloween reminded me of the Strawberry Shortcake costume that I made for my daughter. She also got a strawberry shortcake house that year for Christmas. So glad she still has happy memories of playing with it.
