Home is wherever I’m with you

Yep, it’s about time I show my face on the blog again. As much as I love to blog and have always considered it a great privilege to share my silly thoughts with you, it’s one of the things I most easily forget! Really though, I do have a great excuse (and I just haaaaave to have an excuse). Art fair has taken over all of 435. I mean ALL of it, including my brain! Since we are in the middle of the big move, we are clearing out the girls in the office, the graphic designers space and mine, to make room for more cuteness! And I guess more room for all you guys to fit in here too! Those of you that have been to art fair in the past know how PACKED this place can get. And it’s hot, real hot. But at least it’s just one day and it really is quite wonderful, sweaty face aside. I’m getting butterflies just thinking about it.

Speaking of the BIG MOVE, I can’t believe it’s happening. This will be my second experience moving Matilda Jane to a new home. Believe me, it doesn’t get any easier. The new building brings excitement to all of our girls, but a little nervosa too. 435 E. Brackenridge is home to us, it has been for over 3 years now. I know 3 years isn’t long, but when you’ve had a whirlwind history like Matilda Jane, 3 years is A HUGE SPAN OF TIME. So much has happened to so many of us right here in this brick building. Lives have been changed on the front porch steps, on the groundhog filled lawn, and even at our green picnic table on the patio. True friendships were made answering phones in the office, pulling shows in the basement,  working at the packing tables, and designing in the cutting room. Stories were told, shared, and made. But just as we are much more than a clothing company, I know the love and memories connected to Matilda Jane are much bigger than this brick building too. I know that before we know it the new building will feel like home because Matilda Jane is a family. And that makes big changes and big moves a lot less intimidating. Man I can’t tell you how proud I am to be apart of this.

And this move is going to help YOU guys too!! The new place has GREAT work flow, so we can pull and pack your orders more efficiently. And it actually has OFFICES in it too. We’ve always kinda just created an office space when it was necessary, but now we are going to have a tech bar?!?? Lynette’s brain child. It’s a small bar that has outlets for laptops and bar stools to sit at. How cool is that? I feel like we are APPLE or something. Don’t worry, we aren’t THAT fancy or high tech yet. Heck I don’t even know if we are that cool!?

So much to do. So many buttons to sew. SOOOO many. And yep I’m gonna say it, SOOOO little time.  Art Fair is less than two weeks away. The big move started last Friday and will continue late this week and needs to be finished before July. I gotta remember to stop, breathe, and take it all in. Things certainly are happening around here and like I said, these are great excuses to forget to blog, right?

LOVE,

SAM
